From 0:28 of this video, the hi-hat (or probably cymbals) sounds rapidly. How to make it?

With MIDI you won't get too close as you would want... I would use a sample of that effect pre-recorded from some sample pack. It is very very easy to find it on any sample base on the internet

If you want to try with MIDI anyway, I recommend using something like Roll Control.

There are cymbal swell/crescendo sample packs. (That's not a hihat, but rather a crash cymbal swell).

    Look into "ThatSound - Organic".

Use a cymbal swell from an orchestral library. They're always sampled with mallets and have the right sound. I used to use good old EWQLSO but about anything with symphonic percussion should do it.
You can also do it with the mallet samples in EZDrummer's Postmodern expansion but it takes careful programming.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I looked it up with EZdrummer, but it was not easy to find. I'll give it a shot again. Thx!

Sorry, my fault, you're absolutely right.
It's a Meinl 19" Byzance Extra Thin Crash, bit dusty, round about six years old, origin unknown (second hand), hardly treated (HP at 432,687Hz), played by a beautiful young girl from the Bahamas (her father's quite a successful fisherman - but that's a different story), who likes to sing old tunes of their people at dawn on the beach while wearing hardly anything else but a pearl necklace which she got from her mother when she still was a small child - or was it that ugly, fat old man who dropped it on the rotten wooden floor of an old mansion?

They are drums, and therefore the perfect excuse for yet another plugin.
