Real-World tests are the ones to pay attention to. Not artificial benchmarks. Especially those not coded & optimized for Apple Silicon.

 

All part of Apple's "modular" plan.

 

Had just the opposite experience here. My six-core 2010 Pro ran Logic fine, but started crapping out left and right overloading for no reason. Bought the new "2020" i7 Mac Mini when it came out with half the RAM in it, Logic started playing like butter again. Didn't get much of a bump in CPU power (very little, if any) but it made the system stable again, and the Mac Pro is now doing Win 10 duties with an expensive AMD card I can't use on the Mac anymore heh. Not really seeing any need to at this point, but I may just switch this out for a new M2 Pro Mini and not have to worry about needing another Mac for 10 years the way it used to be (my last G4 went for about 11 years before I retired it in 2012).. Although back then, Apple wasn't pushing a new OS every year and obsoleting 6-7 year old models just because they feel like it.

 

The latest OCLP is out, so I appreciate their efforts to extend the life of hardware that Apple no longer cares about.
