you don't need a specialized audio interface to do audio loopback, just use some software capable of doing that,

I'm using Loopback by Rogue Amoeba because OBS doesn't work properly with RME's included loopback feature on Mac,

maybe folks here can suggest good software solution for Windows then?

    Hello @mild pump milk
    How you doing?

    Interesting.
How can I find out about loud harmonics and test it my self?

    You right.
Surprisingly I just found out that on my motherboard on the back there is a socket for USB 3 type-C. And that relieves me.

    Wow, that's interesting.
Would you be willing to provide the video reference for me to view?

So I assume the loud harmonics on the JFET input (instrument line input) are also the same as the Mic input, right?
Because the iD4 MKII uses two different input types, right?
1x JFET line input and 1x Class-A Concole Mic preamps input.
Do they both have the same loud harmonics?

I assume the HD650 with 300 ohms can be run perfectly by iD4 MKII right?

I'm trying to record a guitar with a JFET line input. I think it's pretty good compared to my previous audio interface. Or at least I'm satisfied with the price I paid.

Anyway, how do the loud harmonics compare to the Focusrite 4i4 Gen3?
Actually I wanted to buy Focusrite, but in the end I chose this iD4 MKII.

Hi, @tzzsmk , how you doing?

    Yes, absolutely.

As previously discussed, with my PC which is not very powerful and due to instability when using loopback software, I finally decided to buy a new Audio Interface.

Apart from that, my problem is also with 250 ohm impedance headphone.
My old audio interface wasn't strong enough to make my 250 ohm DT770 work properly. So I saving money to buy a new Audio Interface that suit it.

    Hi, fine)
Yes, focusrite, even old e-mu, esi will be way cleaner. Audient is warmer and dirtier than all those and others because of preamp. You can't switch it off, mic/line inputs will be saturated.
    Will find videos bit later.
HD650, don't know which, it was a quick test during hour or two, a friend gave them year ago. Sound way wonderful.
JFET and console A-class preamps are different, JFET has another distortions, for guitars it is not significant imho, I don't need this. Didn't test. Mic and line preamps are not loud, but this will not give -110dB or even lower harmonics, but will give about -80dB third harmonic or so, maybe bit louder, or bit quieter, +some other quieter harmonics, so it is way louder than all interfaces. So, preamp saturation)

I like it. Not perfect for transparent cleanest line input digitizing, that's why people chasing lower THD, lower noise, lower harmonics. So you just get just console saturation into a very clean ADC. Without its preamps it would be perfect interface, but it is still good with some small console preamp colour)

Video first. Here is a test of usb 3.0, separate power supply which gives maximum quality, better, both tested adc and dac. If you a not russian language speaking, you may see here that ADC is dirtiest in the test. Then way cleaner DAC with usb 3.0, and cleanest DAC with power supply. Used premium quality cables, top quality adc, and audient into audient itself.
2.0 usb not recomended at all. Low power. Might not work or work with problems, lower quality audio

Later another video. Versus focusrite/emu or so.... Oldie but goldie, but might be not compatible with newer OSes, such as 1616m, 0204 etc. Don't know. That's why people still use old OSes (xp, me, 7, vista) for this great discontinued interfaces.

    Hi, sorry for late reply.

OK, I'll take that as important information. Thank you.

Maybe I will find out about this because I will often use line input (JFET) instead of mic input because I often record guitars both me and my sister.

Got it. I just found out about it now and I think in the future I will have a look at this aspect before buying. Thank you.

I became curious. Why doesn't Audient release a clean audio interface (without harmonic distortion)?

Yes, I saw it. Interesting test.

It would be nice if you care to share.
    Thank you very much.

Yeah, also take a look at audio interface by Neve..... Called- Neve 88M....costs like 5-6 Audients iD14 mkII, also a couple of inputs and it is not clean too, preamps has its Neve vibe)

    So,
Neve sells it as a flagship preamp built into ADC/DAC interface.
Audient sells their like an interface with built-in their flagship preamps.
    Imho this is so..

i will use it on windows11 with ableton, fl studio and for general use..
for the question of the volume at 0.. well.. I like to consider it a "feature" to save us from a sudden too high initial volume lol..

    Hi @franko22
    Everything went smoothly, thank you.

    Welcome to the club... :mates:
How are things going so far? Is everything running smoothly?

Since I haven't tried the DAW you mentioned, I can't really comment on it.

    Hahaha same here...

Wishing you a wonderful day :shalom:

Update both firmware and drivers for stability, performance and bugfixes. There were also phase problems at highs due to oversampling or so, noise etc, they fixed that, so update, because my interface got old versions of both.
