Is there something special about ilok for Mac, different from that for PC?

libraries and frameworks of iLok are different on Mac, and MacOS/Mac as a platform is evolving quicker by design, compared to Windows,
everything is possible, but current state of MacOS and whole Mac platform is quite a mess to waste time and effort on,

Apple Silicon transition is not finished yet, despite Apple's boasting past 2 years, and new MacOS weirdly resembles iPadOS,
iPadOS is a weirdo in audio market, arguably much more popular than Android, but limited to Apple's AppStore conditions,

not long ago, iLok wasn't even Apple Silicon native supported, so all the plugins were waiting for PACE to fix their shit up,
there's uncertainty on physical vs. cloud iLok, frankly not long ago PACE accepted USB-C as a new standard,

then, plugin devs have been waiting for AVID to fix their shit up and provide APIs for Apple Silicon native AAX,
ProTools native Apple Silicon just gone public beta last week, it's literally just a beginning to start looking into future of Macs now in 2023,

I'm afraid it won't take that long (~3 years) and Windows for ARM will boom for real, effectively breaking all the current Intel/AMD Windows stuff, let's embrace what we have for now at least

Ilok for Mac of course would be amazing, but I'm past it now with the array of options to use.

I would used to feel less equipped and considered Windows / VM etc, but now there is so much good stuff for Mac I'm completely content.

TRAZOR, SPTDNC (however it's spelt), Moria, R2R, Flare

Have give us everything needed to make hit records.

(I know doesn't answer your question directly) but this is the best time for Mac I've ever seen!

    WRAPWARDEN/iLOK

I think it is still ilok, but custom ilok. there are so many variations of ilok. take wave arts some plugin and compare with uad spark or even Cycling74 Max 8.5+ Those all use a form of ilok.

Ilok as even more flexibile than VMProtect in its options to make the life for a reverse very hard, plus add different "methods" to macos and windows.

That's our point of contention. There are teams who have stopped releasing due to emotional reasons, period. And you can counter and quibble about the semantic difference between defeating a protection and keeping it internal versus releasing it, and so on, but the end result is that the public at large have periodically lost out on things because teams were fed up (emotionally).

In this specific case of (presumably) R2R not doing iLok for Mac? Quite possibly, no. But you're also assuming that R2R is the only team that could ever be possible of doing it, and that skilled teams who would have been capable and willing had not been driven away by emotional drama.

I do think we're in agreement that it's the least of all factors, but I am asserting emotions do play some degree, and I have offered historical proof. Your rebuttal seems to be, "nuh uh, gaslighting", because you hold recent R2R release notes as the be-all-end-all of the discussion. But again, judging by history, there would be more teams releasing if they were treated better.

So who knows what the future would have held, if people expressed more gratitude and less entitlement?

pace was a mess since 1985, theres a huge community trying to crack every last pace protected audio app for macintosh which until the introduction of the imac in 1999 was protected by Floppy Disk. lots to do.

100% true. They are the only team which is currently in existence who are organized and resourced enough for such work, within the AUDIO scene.

This is called dealing with facts and not suppositions. Suppliers get both platform files when they are purchased (mostly). ;)

Who do you suggest could do it from Mac side? Trazor, Moria, Hexwars, Codeshine, .... who?

The rest is excuses. If it can't be done, it can't be done. Or you simply have to take them at their word where it is simply a question of TIME. Return on investment. Are personal things or the "AAX?" guy why UAD are not done yet?

In every discussion, someone comes with this myth of the "entitled" Mac users. First of all, WIN users have almost every software cracked, especially due to iLok having been cracked for WIN. Nevertheless, whenever there is occasionally ONE release for Mac that hasn't been cracked for WIN before, there are immediately "WIN plz" comments on the sister site. Despite of having almost everything else... Really sad. Secondly, there are simply much more releases for WIN that haven't been cracked for MAC, namely iLOK-protected software. So it's logical that there are more Mac requests. R2R really hit Mac users in the face during their last NEW YEAR's big wave when they released tons of the best iLOK software for WIN, while there was not even one release for MAC. How would WIN users have felt if it would have been the other way round? Thirdly, you can buy expensive PCs and cheap MACs, and most people I know have inexpensive MACs.

I assume why there isn't an iLOK crack for Mac is that you simply get more attention with WIN releases, simply because of the fact that there are more WIN users who can click "thank you". Windows has a market share of 76%, macOS 16%. So yeah, emotion plays a role but not in the way Rasputin thinks. I also assume that cracking iLOk on a MAC is a too heavy challenge even for R2R so they do not even try. Which is a bit sad as I had thought cracking would be about overcoming the highest obstacles.

This is the ratio for the entire OS market, clerks, accountants, gamers, housewives and other preoccupied ones. For the Music Pro category, the ratio will already be different.
Perhaps the only category where Mac-users are more than PC-users are official Pro Tools users.

This puts a grin on my face when I see WIN users asking for mac cracks. Like bro, you know you can buy a mac, its youre choice youre on PC. Nobody is stopping you from owning a mac. (the argument I receive when I ask why R2R cant crack anything of importance for mac...). Trazor's post tend to have alot of these little cries for "win plz"

Just like R2R probably figure why waste their time over Mac releases, when we can all use our beautiful computers and boot nasty ass Winbloze by simply dual-booting them. :)

I've been looking but can't find it. I'd be happy to support him. Where can I find his new mode of releasing apps?
