I agree on overloud, although I haven't used their EQs yet I was just looking it up on the website and it looks dope. O erloud quickly has become a brand I need to purchase.

    Analog Obsession one is awsome
but I also tripped with the Red_Rock_Sound one

All of Sonimus SonEq 2 low end and high end really is strong but a diffrent take on pulltec stuff

bettermaker eq ...is cool...for the curves but without the color for transparency...

The moment Overloud releases its take on something, it's on my purchase list. Many who didn't cast for EQP have surely not even tested it with competitors. I did that with my previous favorite Noiseash and was instantly surprised by how better it sounded.

would have loved to see the Apogee Pultec EQP-1A on the list. i'd put it up there with UAD, and it's the only emu that is licensed & endorsed by Pulse Techniques.

for me, plugins are always about the desired outcome. for someone, that 'pillow' might work for whatever it is they're doing, for others, maybe not.

i use Pultecs for low end work mostly, not much else. also, if there's another Pultec that does a certain job better, i'd just use it. :) my point was it wasn't on the list, not about its performance overall or whatever it can/can't do or its shortcomings.

bro just trying to point out that the Apogee Pultec in the demo is weird af at all zero setting after you boost up to 10 on the some knobs. I assume the pillow he meant was like someone putting a pillow to the speakers. Suddenly the bass popped out eating out the midrange and high end at 0 boost and cut for every filter. Not sure how it will work for anyone, but surely the plugin (on the demo) is buggy as hell. Used Pultecs hardware at studios during my band days recording an album but I swear on all the mothers in this town lifes, it doesn't have that pillow on the speaker shits. It was 8 months ago, so maybe Apogee already fixed it anyway. If it stays that way and people still like it, god save their souls.

I'm not here to judge anyone that likes buggy plugins or equivalent, everyone is allowed to wank to whatever they want.

Pretty sure this is modeled after a Manley Massive Passive by Softube for Native Instruments. I used it occasionally for the past few years, it is okay but you'll better off with the Pulsar Massive anyway.

Another one that I'd suggest for Pultec replacement is the Knif Audio Soma by Plugin Alliance. Same topology, it is also a Passive style Eq but it is tighter in a way compared to a traditional Pultec, IMO. I've been using it for the past 3 days and I quite like it. It can do everything a Pultec can, all the filters can be set to shelves so you can do the Pultec tricks, interestingly you can place the dip to wherever you like while listening to it solo, if you know what I mean. It will be hard to at first to set up the center frequency for the shelves because it can go high up to 1kHz (for the low-end) to get a nice filter interaction curve. I suggest get the free Bertom EQ Curve Analyzer so you will get the idea how to set up the center frequency.

I think what he meant is :

    1. He haven't tried the Kiive Audio Warmy EQP1A
    2. but he tried and like the other Kiive product, which is the Xtressor
    3. Assuming he hold Kiive high in regards and have high hope for Kiive products.

the Warmy EQP1A was problematic at its release, but Kiive fixed it and rebuilt it I believe. Now it is just.. okay.

coolbean (my bad it's coolbeanz with a z) ironic name- I get it. like a big guy named tiny. the video you apparently lost your cool over being told to watch was just a funny example of a reviewer bypassing an eq on and off not realizing they had the high end roll off maxed out. then wondering why it sounded like a pillow was on the speakers.

that was all. please carry on being a grown ass man.

The best part is that after noticing he said he would make another video without the attenuation all the way up...Then didn't. I guess we'll never know what the Apogee Pultec sounds like. Shame.

You don't need a UAD card for the pultecs anymore, you can just buy it and use the Spark version forever (or pay for the Spark subscription) if you're willing to sell your soul to the devil and burn forever in ilok hell.
