Given how swiftly Duda is at getting in his DCMA takedown notices, all discussion of the issues/problems with recent releases of Serum just disappear from our sister site, so while I have the latest Team Cubeadooby and Audiowarez releases, I'm reluctant to actually upgrade from the r4e version 1.3.5b that I currently have installed.

So have people tried out the new releases of 1.3.5b7 from TCB and Audiowarez? I did notice that some people were having problems with the TCB releases -- but I'm very tempted. It'd be nice to have a VST3 version at long last. I've seen no feedback at all re. the Audiowarez release. That could be because it hasn't been out as long yet.

Does anyone have any insights they can share? Feedback as to what works and what doesn't? Input gratefully recieved.

    TCB crashes.
Since I am in the middle of some projects, I am not at all willing to download new things to fuck up my system. I tried TCB on a different machine and it crashes and timebombs randmly. I will wait for r4e.

My serum has untouched binary with regged serial so it works as it work for legit.

Try using my serum ( AUDIOWAREZ)

OK, AUDIOWAREZ release works perfectly for me. Was there some files I needed to change to Read Only after installing, in case the app somehow gets a sniff of the internet and tries to de-register itself?

OK, found it. It's this one:
    C:\Users\ your name \AppData\Roaming\Xfer\Serum\user.dat

I recall that being a standard practice with some previous releases.
It seems like a good idea 'just in case', even though i use "whitelist-only" setting in my firewall control program.
[EDIT: BuntyMcCunty found that setting it to "read-only" makes the AUDIOWAREZ version fail.]

I have not found a problem yet with the VST3 version of v1.3.5.b7 from TCB.
I DO get errors with the VST2 version in both preset browsing and FX.
I keep rechecking - deleting all the serum files / folders each time.
I don't THINK I am leaving anything behind .. last time i found another Serum registry key and deleted it:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\XferRecords\SerumMemento
But i still get the same result.
I was going to just use the Vst3 from TCB, but I'll try this AUDIOWAREZ one too.

[EDIT: Just downloaded the latest TCD . R4e worked on this as well, and I hope to use and keep on of their releases as my final of this version.
Of course I have all the files from all previous releases, but I love to have the 'official unofficial' installers & .NFOs

Yeah, like you I use the whitelist only setting on Malwarebytes Windows Firewall AND I have the Xfer servers blocked in my hosts file, but for years I had Serum explode on me until I started setting this to read only and that fixed it for me.

I don't get any errors at all (so far, fingers crossed) from the VST2 or the VST3 on the AUDIOWAREZ release. I guess you just have to make sure that you have an earlier full installation release to upgrade from. I have a copy of the R2R 1.0.0 release that got uploaded when RET released his updates, but my existing installation upgraded just fine.

I grabbed both the latest TCD and the AudioWarez versions, and will just wait it out on version 1.350 to see what one works best :) No real reason for me to upgrade yet, and I use Serum a lot. I think the version I'm using is r4e.

I think the only reason to really ever upgrade is if I grab some new preset pack that needs newer version. And well, I'm pretty loaded with presets now. So, I usually upgrade once I've seen that a release is stable. I download each release ASAP (before they disappear), and install maybe a couple/few weeks later.

Also, I do recall having to put read only on user.dat a while back so that Duda couldn't slap the registration off of me, but I can see right now mine isn't set to read only.

People reporting no VST3 -- though that's hardly surprising. I've also been bemused by references to a Standalone which may or may not exist. I've never seen a Standalone Serum before. Is there really such a thing out there, or are people just confused?

Oh, I see I have a Standalone in my Xfer folder. Doesn't seem to work though.

Ah, the AUDIOWAREZ VST's have stopped working as well. Oh well. Such is life.
Correction. If I take the Read Only setting off that user.dat file, everything works again. Duda must have installed a check that screws everything up if you set user.dat to Read Only.

Damn, Standalone works as well. Looks like AUDIOWAREZ release is killiing the competition so far.

simply buy it, or rent it.

Therefore you can update whenever you want and not get bothered by any non working releases.

No need to put user.dat file in read-only in audiowarez release as it's is regged version works fine .
