Jean-Michel Jarre’s Classic ‘Oxygene 4’ Recreated With 19KB Of Javascript

While many have attempted over the years to recreate Jean-Michel Jarre‘s classic Oxygène 4 using classic and vintage gear, Dittytoy user srtuss is the first that we’re aware of to do it using mind-bullets, aka 19KB of Javascript code.

Dittytoy is an online platform that lets you create generative music online, using a simple Javascript API. So don’t expect easy-to-use audio nodes to connect with virtual wires or a graphical user interface that allows you to define patterns easily: everything is generated entirely with code.

C64 version is only 18 kB in size

 

I remember there was also Oxygene II for C64.

 

Honestly, if you adjust the levels, it's not that bad.

 

I don't suppose anybody has a multitrack of the original? I've been playing it on guitar lately, would be great if anybody has it. I tried using RipX but the result wasn't good enough.

In my firefox 108 this begins to stutter heavily after a few seconds. Tbh I have 2300+ tabs open, but I am not sure if this is the real reason, it stutters in an own FF window, too. It goes from 2% to 27 % CPU on an i7-6820.
Opera 94 plays it with no hassle, staying under 16%, but with only 470 tabs open. Msedge 108 plays also ok, not going over 18%.

Very impressive for a web-developer like yours truly. It's normal if it eats a lot of CPU, at least in Chrome.

Thanks but I've already trawled the web for the best midi files, I have that one. I will work with a midi file if there's no multitrack.
