I've been trying to look for Shaperbox 3 from Cableguys on the sister site but I can't find it anywhere. I'm not getting any results. Is there a problem with my browser or is this a general error?

 

I also was searching it. Couldn't find it since I need it.

 

this is off topic, mods feel free to erase, just thinking of DMCA. I'm obviously stupid and naive but it's odd to me there isn't more interaction with developers on this site/sister site. on one hand, yes we're not paying over there, but on the other I can say personally it is a FACT ive purchased more legit plugins than I ever had before after discovering this site.

unlike some sites where you can do the same thing, this one has a pretty damn decent community and pretty damn decent moderation. I guess some developers just see red here (word intended) but I see a group of people you KNOW are the target customer base, the trick is just getting them to pay. Which can be said of ANY product basically, to a certain degree, people would love if Google ads were this great at targeting their audience. Maybe there isn't like a "free" alternative to some commodities but there's generally options, and here you could have a direct link to consumers.

for instance, freak show industries dumpster fire i saw on a YouTube video, went to sister site, on comments someone said they offered you to be able to "steal" it from them directly, I did and read their message (super down with them. plus dumpster fire is fun) and now months later when I had some cash I bought it. You can fight against the tide or use it to your advantage. putting in DRM just to not stop pirating and worsen your paying customers experience is like Caligula (I think. I mean probably right? never boil your brain while on emperor) ordering his men to attack the ocean. if I was a dev, I'd be out of business I'm sure, but I would come here and donate a full version plugin, or make a beefy demo version (right before I update it haha) and give a message like the witch gives. the cooler developers like freakshow already do, but on their own site. utilizing this centralized location would be a good tactic imo.

 

Every now and then, you will see a developer commenting positively on posts with their own material.
On the other extreme, some insulted members.
In the middle, many simply fill a DMCA take down request, which we respect.

I can understand that if you've been working for month on a product, you can be pissed off to see it shared for free.
On the other side, once it's done, there's no way back , so the best reaction IMHO, is to try to take advantage of it.
Sister site take it down, but it's already everywhere else, so the constructive attitude is to use it for your marketing.

 

Just a did a quick search on a site I go to if I can't find it on the sister site and found it straight away.

But there is always a risk of the files being corrupt.

I trust the sister site 100%, but can't say the same for any other site.

As Olymoon said, once it's been released on the net, there is no tuning back.

Filing a DMCA report for the sister site is only the tip of the iceberg. Makes no sense in filing that report, yet knowing it will most certainly ALWAYS be available for those who know where to look.

 

If its not on sister site its on torrent or shareing sites with Software categorys

 

If something has been posted on the sister site, you certainly can find it somewhere else shortly after.

 

You didn't search enough / or you want to be sure the DMCA take down all the results ? ... Once is out ... is out ... I find in quick search 5 trusted results ....
