Nexus has its place, if you really want to have lots of different sounds ready to play. If you looking for that Nexus is the right thing for you.

I still keep daydreaming about the Engine, once being able to make own presets (i think the engine behind the shitload of bling bling sounds is quite strong), but i guess the hell will earlier freeze over thatn that will happen ...

Was going to say something similar, but decided to look in the posts, and of course it's already been said. Romplers are too bloated for me. That is the same with other VSTis that take up a huge amount of drive space, like Falcon, or Omnisphere (although those are both much more useful to me than something like Nexus). I know those can both sound great, but I just prefer a lightweight, small VSTi synthesizer. I am getting more into sound design now, but even before that, I found that I could get a sound that I anted mostly just by going through presets in any VSTi synth.

Different strokes for different folks, but I just don't particularly care for Nexus.

I have it and i do use it from time to time. Its good as an option if you are unable to find what your looking for elsewhere patch wise.
its good fun just to open it up , go through presets and play about.

But, to throw a cat ....... Lethal Audio is really good as well.

If you’re writing paper plate pop music. It’s a staple. Sounds like a hit out the gate… If you’re writing intelligent fine China music. Not so much.

totally agree. thats another point, most of the sounds are quite overused, since its a one click solution to good presets for some genres.

That is a very succinct way of putting it as to why I'm not a fan of Nexus :)

That is for the program and every expansion that was around when v3 got released. It was 190 gb total released material for a total of around 3400$ if someone paid full prices.

    Nope, It's a Rompler
with 4.5 It's better and future "proofer" than before but still not really.
If you can't create your own sounds, it's never ever future proofed.

I don't know, but think not really

Clearly yes . For S100 you can have Zebra 2 legacy

Zebra 2 legacy with all the Sound packs and Hans Zimmer Stuff for half the Money
And If you can't understand the synth, just use the Presets without any tweaking

Also, if you look on the sister site "Zebra presets" there is a Bundle with 25,000 Presets
So on a totally comparable level to Nexus's 27.846 Presets :winker:

if I could afford it I would buy it if for no other reason other than it's FUN to play with, doesn't matter if it sounds the best it sounds good to me much better than sampletank and half the other bullshit things I tried, I have a billion other best sounding things like Omni Diva Kontakt etc etc, this thing is inspiring to me and I'll take fun and inspiration wherever I can get it, so I'm grateful to have it and if I were a rich man I would buy the whole thing.

    27,846 Nexus presets?
OMG OMG OMG I only have 24,924 in 191 folders.
That means i am missing 2,940 presets and I wonder which ones OMG OMG OMG.
If the average preset per expansion is 130.5 that means I am missing 22-23 expansions..
    OMG OMG OMG

This thread is kind of funny (in a good way) as most of the comments seem to confirm what I thought for a long time: this nexus thing is simply not worth it.

And no, it doesn't make sense to compare it to omnisphere as this one is in a completely different league quality wise.

Falcon is not a Rompler by any means, at its core, it's a deep and complex synth (even if it has sampling built in).
As of drive space, it takes less than a GB on your drive so I don't think it can be compared to omnisphere or nexus.

Well, my Falcon library is 644 Gig, but that's just because it's too deep and complex for me !

I wasn't calling Falcon a rompler. And Falcon on it's own is pretty small, but the libraries are what I mean.. they add up quick. I don't think I got up to the 644GB @DoubleTake is referring to, but probably around 2-300GB for my collection. I just decided that wasn't for me. I can be a bit of a hoarder with those (and Kontakt libraries). Of course you can make good use of Falcon with a far lower footprint than that though.
