Honestly just get some real hihats.
Step it up and be ahead of the game.
Hihat loop is recorded in seconds.
It has a more human touch to it and is just more fun than some sample everybody else used already.
Your equipment becomes part of your signature sound.
You need to transform your music booth into a real studio at some point.
Imagine FutureMusic coming to make a cool movie about you as a producer.
You can’t just show them your Laptop and your beats by Dre headphones.

percussion is not that expensive and everyone can play it. No Usersmanual needed. It’s in your blood.
    Get some tambourines, shakers, chimes.
Surround yourself with that shit everywhere to remind yourself what you are and why you do this.

    Keep it fresh

    you do you man.

As for OP's question, this depends on what genre you make and what sort of hats you looking for (machine or acoustic), as well as if you're specifically looking for loops or one-shots.

If acoustic, have a look to the free Sennheiser Drummica, it's a high quality library and has better dynamics especially for cymbals than other paid libraries.

Edit: if synthetic, any crap emulation of drum machine will do the job.

So you are more looking for hi-hat Midi files. The samples can be from any Drum Machine. Do you have the Samples From Mars drum machines? What about some old Funk Breaks/Jazz/Rare Groove records? That's what you want short of making them yourself. I like @stevenjerryman post too, but I think you want to go the sampling old (as opposed to recording new) route.

A one-shot is just that, without any context. A single hit of a cymbal, and they have no "genre" until they are a loop made at a specific range BPM and playing style.

    Hey Nick,
take a look on AKAI MPC.

    https://www.akaipro.com/mpc-software-2

Take a look at the humanizing function ;)

    https://www.thempcstore.com/mpc-expansions/artist-series-araabmuzik-vol-2.html
    https://www.thempcstore.com/mpc-expansions/marco-polo-pad-thai.html

I was completly on fire with the Pad Thai Expansion.

You can even load original MPC Samples and expansions.

It´s a bit of work to get into AKAI, but if you want to make some real good HipHop Beats i think MPC could be your thing.

You can use the software alone or the MPC Studio 2 Controller. ~200€
Or you try to get a real used MPC.

The Samples and content for Akai is the best i heared.
    Much analog and warm stuff.

And no. I´m not working for AKAI :D

But i love the MPC Software as Plugin.
It´s a monster of sampler, if you know how to route it in your DAW :)

    Have fun

    PS:
    DAAMN
    Just released:

OP, my best advice to you is that you get a Splice account if you just want samples. So much choice there and you can preview the hats/sounds that you actually need, rather than stock up on packs you think you don't need. (BlackHaze shared some good packs to check out though)

Just take note that most of the stuff on there is normalized, and already compressed/eq'd, but that makes it much faster to work with.

This is a pretty high bar to set for oneself as a baseline. What will qualify as "new and unique" in 2023 that hasn't already been done?

Please let us hear some. It's easy to say someone else's name and all of a sudden others are to assume that persons quality of work is now the rock from which you apparently speak down from. That isn't new and unique at all, it's 2022 gaslighting. :)

I don't even see the point in most "lofi" samples. you can put a plugin like RC-20, Akaizer, SP-900, or Nomad Drum Tools, as just examples; on anything. You may as well just start with high quality samples. There are so many well recorded drum kits out there, I fail to see why you'd start with nothing but good sounds. I'd look for the highest of quality breakbeat recordings. and slice everything up. And getting them from the best drummers you can find are even better. The timing accuracy and tone, the actual cymbals, etc. all already picked out by a top-flight drummer are going to be better than anything you get from some kid and a laptop full of plugins.

If you do not like the chopping workflow, you should look at DrumsSSX plugin. It frequency separates drum files into stems, like RX Music Rebalance feature. You could lift the hats off any drum break still in your DAW. I'd rather chop because wave editor is Logic anyway.

Obviously Trap uses very different hi-hats from for example 90s HipHop (Boom Bap). The former mostly uses synthetic 808 style hats, while the latter mostly uses sampled from vinyl hats from real drum recordings put through an 12 bit type of sampler.

Of course you can mix the styles, but you need to know what you are looking for. Sound selection, style of hi-hat patterns and processing is different depending on what vibe you are going for. Trap and Drill don't use Swing / Humanization very much, while a Dilla / Madlib type beat has mad swing.

I like Kount's packs, since they have a great variety of percussion, oldschool type breaks, various drum loops and one shots. You can also try his free packs to get a taste. Shroom and Decap are great too. For strictly classical Breaks you can try AJ Hall's stuff as well. For Trap and Drill just use high quality 808's (or from similar drum machines) and make sure the patterns and pitch and processing is as expected from the genre.
