R.I.P. - Jet Black (The Stranglers) passed away on December 6, 2022.

Jet Black (real name: Brian John Duffy), co-founder and drummer of British wave rockers The Stranglers passed away on December 6, 2022 at the age of 84. According to initial reports, the drummer fell asleep peacefully surrounded by his family members. The Stranglers were formed in 1974 and, with the deceased behind the gun, went on to record a whopping 23 Top 40 singles and 19 Top 40 albums in the United Kingdom.

In the sixties, Black initially played in jazz bands, but - as already mentioned - was a founding member of the Stranglers in 1974.
He finally had to leave the combo in 2015 for health reasons. Rest in peace, Jet, we will not forget you.

Stranglers - Always the Sun (1986)

The Stranglers - All Day and All of the Night (1987)

In my college days (Iowa State U.), I hosted a radio show on KPGY-FM called New Music Experience. I used to play the Stranglers as well as Dead Kennedys, PiL, Fabulous Poodles, etc. I remember The Strangler's "Toiler On The Seas" as a standout track from Black & White. Sigh. The good ol' days. I suppose my time is nigh as well.

I bought "Rattus" within a couple of days of release, based on recommendations from friends and I never looked back.
Even though Jet had been ill for some time, it was still sad to hear that he had left us. I always enjoyed his drumming, particularly on stuff like Genetix, which was almost playful.
