I wanted to check if there is any way to achieve this:
Reverse vocals and then play them in their default state, meaning that I want to retain the melody line and timing but played backwards.

I find strong melodies reversing vocals. It is a very creative way. You can find some syllables or motifs or even full phrases sounding incredible when reversed.

Well, if I got this right, the OP wants each word of the lyrics reversed while still beung able to define, perform the melody. In my mind one needs to chop the lyrics, let them remain in sequential order and then reverse them in place...or, reverse the music and sing to that and of course reverse both the music again back to its origin and the sung lyric as well, but it would be really, really hard for me myself sing the melody backwards. Lots of rehearsal would be involved in order to get it right.
