I've been looking at upgrading from my 20 year old unpowered Yorkville YSM-6's.
But trying to find an uncolored powered pair is a bitch.
Reviews are all contradictory and the music store salesmen all have differing opinions.
Often, the speakers I want to hear aren't in stock on display.

Kali Audio is a decent brand, I'm just not too sure about this configuration.

I am still working with my trusty Focal Twin 6be :) but the Focal Shape or Alpha Evo are worth a look as well.

Would never buy a set of monitors based on a review (home or studio).

These remind me of the Logitech systems that were being sold with the Intel based iMac Pro (24/27").

    Some things to consider:
    • Time alignment?
    • Stereo image smearing?
    • Full, developed low end?
    • Flubby low mids?
    • Smooth, detalied high-mids/highs?
    • Good heat dispersion/ventilation for internal electronics?

    Snake Oil means bad/deceptive right?
I've heard Genelec and KRK Rokit fall under that category.

The ultimate monitor for every studio has an 8inch woofer.

Snake oil is a term used to describe deceptive marketing, health care fraud, or a scam.

What about Genelec monitors fall within this?

Lol, this guy made so much videos about Kali branded Monitors - he is snake oil.

But i have some Kali IN-8 standing here in front of me ( 3-way koax ) and i like them, they are just a little bit weak in terms of amp noise, but thats no prob for me - i came from a time where all analog things in a studio made noise, lol....

I think he is a product placement specialist and subliminal advertiser. Is your In-8 version 1 or 2?

They defo have some nice features, but one of it would exclude them completely from my list, the crossover freq of 290Hz. Be aware that everything below will be monoed by the monitors no matter how it's panned in your DAW.
You'll get way better sounding 8'' nearfields without a sub in that price range.

Researching monitors in the same price range for my son, I recommended:
    • Adam TV5 or TV7 with the T10S Sub.
    • Adam TV8 with or without the T10S Sub.
Better options for freely establishing a listening/placement position. Crucial for any monitor setup. Also possibly better focused low & mids.

My old Fostex PM1 are still rocking hard.
You can find decent near field monitors second hand from different brands.

And yes, 8 inch for near field is the usual balance point.

The whole point of those Kali monitors is to prevent noise spillage, and the listening sweet spot is only 80cm.

My nearfields are around 80 cm.
That's why they are called nearfield

HEDD Audio Type 20 or 30 goes beyond Adam Audio technology.

My 5" monitors are nearfield and the neighbours bang the wall at average volume :)

Nearfields are called that way because you need to sit within 1-2 meters. They have low amplitude capabilities (when the THD is within certain limits).
