Hi guys It's Black Friday. Which one would you buy on sale?
KRK ROKIT 8 G4 or Yamaha HS8. Thanks

The salesman at Long & McQuade swears by both brands as transparent monitors.
I'm looking to choose between Adam Audio, Focal or Neumann.
    Any recommendations?

Hi Kluster. I have the Neumann 120A and the old Yamaha hs80m. The Neumann are great monitors. The bass is incredible to be a small monitors. You need to mix at low volume with the 120A. I don't know if I'm improving getting the new generation of Yamaha hs8 or stay with my HS80m.

Thx for the reply. The Neumanns have great reviews. Do they need a sub?

The bass coming out from the Neumanns is massive, I have a room 13.5 feet x 11.5 feet. I think is enough. I have the Yamahas to compare.

    - If you're really into EDM/e-Music in general, and DJaying/ scratching, but also rap, anything with a lot of bass, etc... => the HS8 seems made just for that.

    - If you're more inclined to Rock, Metal, Americana or any genre with more "traditional" instruments, but also if you write, sing, and mix yourself your own songs, the KRK would be more your type.

But IMHO none of them could be considered as perfectly neutral - or close enough to neutrality. For delicate, analytic listening and mixing, for (neo-)Classical music or even acoustic pop, folk or Jazz... I could recommend investing in Focal, Neumann, etc...

...Or, if you're really short regarding money, Presonus Iris are an excellent choice regarding the price, they really amazed me when I listened and compared them with other - cheap - monitors about the same price.

(Pay also attention to the RS80 - and all the models equipped with a ribbon tweeter - from my ears, they're clearly better than the Adam ones)

This question of neutrality is important if you want that your mixes sound good and translate anywhere, in any condition, better not exaggerate some frequencies to compensate your monitor weaknesses, there is a risk that those frequencies could create resonances or general frequencies imbalances once read by other reproduction systems.

I have owned the HS5 and Rockit 5. In my experoence, The rockits have a bass curve that has always misled my decisions. I sold them after less than 3 months. The Yamaha were amazing.

Tweeter hiss on G4 KRK line crash your brain.
HS8 also not good choice. Low price monitors get you more problems.

Low Price? HS8 are like 600 Euros a Pair. I owned a Pair for 4 Years and i can tell you they are very Good. There is a Reason why they are available for such a long time :winker:

(Note: the original post in Russian that this one was answering to have been removed by a moderator, so don't worry if you don't find any relationship between this message and any other posts. I let it there because I think it could apply to several (many?) other posts in this forum, and at sister too... Peace...)

, I don't understand why you need to insult everyone or be angry to express your point of view in your language?

We are really cool, nice and friendly here, take a deep breathe, chill down, grab a good drink and rephrase your messages with a more civilized tone...
    ...Perhaps, maybe, in English?

It is just a suggestion for better and nicer relationships, but of course do exactly what you want, I don't mind at all.

Im leaning towards Lois Lane on this. I use Genelecs, KRK 9000 and 7000bs and got rid of my Yamahas. The Genelecs are simply incredible and by far the most accurate to TV/Film monitors Ive ever used.

Having said that the KRK 7000bs are pretty amazing. If you can fins a second hand pair Id grab them.

I'd get the Adams over the Yamahas, but not by some huge margin. Similar price range.
