I'm hoping you didn't immediately break up, like instantly after you saw her autobot into a Moog Mother and your Moogerfooger just couldn't take it. I'm hoping you reverse engineered a few patches before tossing her ass to the curb.

This is why i will never take on a live mixing gig ever again. There's an absolute nightmare waiting to happen around every corner and I'm only talking about the stuff that IS within your control. Not talking about all the fucking randoms walking around with their bucket full of Sprite or some fucker that wants to sit down next to me and remmember the good ole days he used to mix too.

Yup, live work sucks to me too. I stopped because I was always totally on edge every moment behind the board. Bad shit happens so many times through no fault of your own. Gremlins inhabit concert halls and then when they create havoc you'll get the blame when shit blows up. .

 

Yeah it was always a stressful gig 100% of the time. I felt like I could sympathise with Surgeons the first time in my life after agreeing to that gig. Felt like I was putting on the gloves of malpractice every morning. I wish I said no because it was exactly like that time my parents asked me if I wanted to go to school, I was so eager but it was all a damned trap. Could have waited another year and shaved skin off my ass riding my bike with my friends instead of early onset indocrination.

Having said that, I still enjoyed doing it for years in the most stressful way possible. It's taught me a lot appreciating that I can rip ass in the studio and take it easy. I can do that and have room for mistake without being choked to near death with an XLR cable because I have plenty of takes so I could afford to step onna few rakes. Live mixing is probably where they coined the term: Masochist; one who willingly enjoys the pain of skinning his own scortum till the eggs show for breffis.

PS: Gremlinz are what Furbys could have been.
