I can tell notes like almost I would say 80.6% of the time. Also with that I was trained like 15 years now in classical music and produced after 12 of those years. Also why I bring up Synesthesia is because its the tactile type I do see colors but its rare like Bach's toccata and fugue in d minor goes almost the entire spectrum of color. I will hit the door or drop a plate and see orange. .. Like I usually get tingling when it hits a major a minor (Obviously relative to C major) but even Bb minor gets me. Something is not right... I also do taste things when things touch or but that could be something totally different. Does anyone else have this???? I'm only posting because its the tingly feeling that's annoying.

 

No, but I've heard this is how most people with so called "perfect pitch" do it- they see it. I have relative pitch and pitch memory; I compare pitches to a reference song in my head I know the key of. I have experienced minor synesthesia under the influence of certain chemicals and I got that tingle thing. It's like sticking my head in a bell.

In the absolute pitch course of David L. Burge it's recalled that most great composers could feel and see pitch colors or tastes, for example Debussy, saw red for F#, green for Eb, and so on.
In the first part of the course, he points out that whatever octave is in, F# is brighter and more vibrant compared to Eb, mellow and soft, so those colors.

I don't have perfect pitch though I recognize at times pitches associated to certain songs.

 

check out scriabin and his music, he had the same condition (or i'd rather just call it a trait, it's nothing that's inherently bad). also one of his last works included a device that would project colors as well. maybe you can get some inspiration from his stuff
