I have used it for a while and think its great for some applications. It doesn't always make the final cut, but it does always give a useful alternative perspective.

I bought a new SSD. Finally gonna upgrade to Windows 10.

 

PreSonus not offering a black friday discount to customers who have purchased the professional version is a major disappointment. The kicker is that virtually anyone else gets one. Kind of a bummer TBH.

If the "upgrades" from V5 to V6 were more enticing, maybe it would be a "whatever" type of situation, but alas...

 

Captain Plugins slashed prices 50%(!!) on Captain Chords Epic (which is actually part of a suite including Bass, Melodic, and Captain Play), so I could finally buy that one plugin that has never been available through other "free" means. It's a little buggy to be honest.
When you import your own loops, it often gets the BPM wrong, and the results of the randomisation are often unusable.

It's the same idea as Comping in Ableton 11 although that's quite finicky to set up so I was hoping this would give more instant results.

 

Captain Plugins Epic are OK but some of the functionality is still inferior to previous versions and it now appears as if most of their development efforts over the past few months have been squiffed up the wall creating even simpler versions of the plugins called Pilots.

 

I say yay, I thought it was going to be pretty gimmicky but I did find it useful, yes. Kind of handy to throw onto any channel and just out curiousity see what the equalizer will do on it's own. Sometimes it's nice to then thrown your own eq underneath and try to copy the curves over and move them around more to your liking.

 

Interesting mr bagelfhaggerz. Can you show us a video of that technique in action? Specifically the mastering tier, which is quite content dependent... for me, when it fails, ive tried with a couple of other EQ's in that respect to dissect but gave up for better more straightforward options.

Well I actually don't make any videos, I'm sorry. But it's quite simple really, I think I probably just butchered the explanation as I probably tend to do.

But Gulfoss is an automatic EQ right? So I use that wherever I insert it in the mixer. Then it auto mixes it for me. Most of the time personally, I like what it does. And a lot of the time it's not what I would have done in my EQ. So I throw another parametric eq unerneath like ProQ and try to copy and emulate the gulfoss curves in ProQ (or any other eq) below it by hand. Then I save those presets by calling them whatever source the EQ was over at the time to recall at a later time.

It also gets me in the ballpark of farmilliarity with EQ's I do use regularly because Gulfoss is rather new to me and is still foriegn to my ears. The result still usually sounds different but I never expec it to sound exactly like Gulfoss with it's oh so many fucking bands it has on deck doing it's thing automatically under the hood.

Sorry if I made it sound like there was an automatic button that does this, brother. LOL God of Jeebus, I wish there was some way to export and import eq profiles between plugins. Would be a dream. Maybe in VST 4, do you hear me you VST FATE DECIDING motherfuckers!? Make my 2 front teeth happen for Christmas, wouln't kill ya filthy animals.

Well maybe that's not how you used your copy but I used it for it's "intelligent" eq to clear up my mixer tracks automatically to see what it might do and try to learn from it. It's like sort of like a bonafied tilt eq, but with way more bands in depth and grooves than just a straight line balancing act. It always instantly suprised me with it's results.

And I will take your advice but my technique has been giving me insight on how to heal my hertz. If you need a much cheaper alternative with good results then Teote has already been mentioned.
