Sincere question: Why are a mere few of the scene people/groups testing their releases on ARM?

I see "Not tested on M1" or "Only tested on Intel" on the other site a lot.

I don't know anyone still carrying around their old Intel stovepipes anymore. M1s were released 2 years ago today.

A lot of the time, people are just copying previous/old Intel (or even Wintel) cracks, and they don't have an ARM crack to copy (and they aren't able to crack it themselves otherwise). Sometimes it's because they only have Intel Macs, so just don't care about the other binary and leave it half done. Sometimes they aren't familiar enough with Arm assembly code, which is different from Intel. And probably other reasons...

I expect this to change/improve over time as "Mac" more and more will mean Arm, and not Intel, but it will take some years...

it's because they do not have an army of beta testers with all the different possible machine/model/processor configurations like this to test them on.

Mac scene at end of PPC transition to Intel was almost exactly like this. For awhile.

You are the tester. They get it wrong, it doesn't work. Big deal. They fix, reup, and you try again.
Sounds pretty fair deal to me.

Not really. From my experience, 99% of the time by "tested on Intel" they actually mean "we didn't bother to crack the ARM", not "we cracked the ARM but aren't sure if it works". So on ARM, there's generally nothing to test...

Some teams, on the other hand, always do a proper job in this regard - and we're grateful they take the time to do it.

The real answer is because Apple screwed Access Music on this. But few people seem to have put two and two together. Or in my case Ti2.

My completely uneducated guess is that the groups probably don’t have as many M1 Macs available to test, troubleshoot, and mess with, but I am probably wrong. I do envy the availability that Windows users enjoy, but Microsoft is going ARM too (Volterra anyone?) so let’s see what’s next.

ARM assembly is different than x64.

Yep totally different language that the cracker would have to relearn, that's why we don't have Waves for M1 yet.

All a "cracker" does is run. Herschel is done running on the cheap. Apparently his stock is high.
And we know that he can do nearly anything. I'd feel much more comfortable if he was on the plane in first class rather than at the actual controls of the thing.

Especially not with him just taking lessons. Maybe I will make a tribute song one day called Amelia Airhart. I'd feel better with her flying. And look how that turned out.

Today I research about windows 11 on ARM but it seems are beta and windows 11 ARM itself can't run the X64 APPs developed for intel and same as Mac Rosetta Stone compiler Microsoft was developing same App.
Today Microsoft Launch the first Project volterra PC or Windows Dev kit 2023, a PC with Snapdragon ARM Processor intended for developers but with a $500 cost could be a competitor of the Mac mini M1 when many developers ported intel X64 to ARM64 software and windows ARM will be fully developed.

Yes, I'm aware that the architecture is different - even though I work in music, I have a software background. I meant what's the real reason M1 is glossed over most of the time? Surely, it's not just because "the architecture is different".

There's a post from a user name Swayze in the sister site in the thread "Waves Complete 14 v21.09.22 macOS" that explains how to get it working. Can personally confirm his instructions work.

The truth is that almost everything the important thing is cracked for ARM, with the exception of ilok (but that's not new to M1) and
and some other things, but not many. What happens is that it is not published in audioz(don't ask me why, no idea what happened).
Although I give you a good example, Trazor cracked Hive for Mac, but he didn't post it on audioz. Cheers!

there are multiple answers to this:

    1) public releases are often refurbished/stolen pieces
    2) releasers are often enthusiasts who don't actually test things, just share
    3) some releases are low-effort/incomplete builds
    4) new Apple Silicon platform is still very expensive and restrictive for groups to invest in
    5) new MacOS versions are still introducing changes which break things up for no reason
    6) disassembly of ARM code and spots are different, twice the work for everything

I'm typing this from old Catalina Intel MBP which performs very good, unlike my M1 MacMini has become very slow past year thanks to Big Sur updates
