How do i achieve this synth stab sound at 2.55 ? Is this a sound from a particular synth ?

 

The very high pitched little lead? Or the "explosion" fx sweep? Maybe there is another timestamp point with a more isolated version of the sound you are referring to as a stab? A bunch of little things happen all very quickly around the 2:55 mark. Layers and fx probably won't prevent figuring out how to do the sound, but it's not going to make figuring out the actual synth used very easy.

Yes, but Sacha Cohen as Ali G covers this in the very intro of the video during their conversation.

He says some things and then, " Still would, though". For her part, she is working on a new movement called "Me 200".

 

Could it be just a typo and 2:25 is where you can hear the stabs?

 

2:25 you can hear the stabs better, for sure

If I was you, I would record some minor chords, then cut them to small stab samples, then throw the best out of these on a sampler of your choice. Hit them at higher pitches than your recorded chord stabs to get a more artificial sound and look for further processing. In "music" the sound is used in a way like the classical orchestra hit often is.

Also take in consideration that the hits in the madonna track get so much more punch, because they are essentially doing the same rhythm as the bassline.

9ty Thanks for this info. What you say makes a lot of sense, it sounds really artificial and heavily produced. A little bit similar to the synth stabs in da funk by daft punk. The attack of it also reminded me of someone hitting a chord on a sampler. It also reminded me a little bit of orchestral hit or 90s rave stabs but I think this sound is a little bit cooler, more modern and more suited to french house, Edm or modern disco.

 

I think the sound is a combination of synths. Could be a Jupiter 8 and DX-7 with an Emulator II. The music album used a lot of vintage gear on it

 

Yep. This track is from 2000 so it's highly probable that they either used a HW sampler or synth, Yamaha or Alesis coming to my mind.
I'd look for Rave Stab in a software synth. You could even start with this one https://blog.wavosaur.com/rave-generator-vst-free-90s-stab-synth/. One of its sounds is pretty close.

 

Sylenth1 was in existence and available for use where it could possibly have been used within the time frame.
It was probably the "brand new toy" in the studio already. 2000 isn't early enough to rule out VSTi Synths being used on big records.
