Isn't Frederico's library smaller because he deleted the digital modeler entries (Helix, Kemper, Fractal)?

I have played for 44 years and of course have owned many amps during those years
And frankly i dont hear anything special that make it a gamechanger.
I still dont think it sound as good as some of my fav ampsims.
However i will capture my tubeamp soon and hear if it can capture it so it sounds identical and i mean identical not close.
Maybe it can sound good with a quality IR (Amplitube IR is not good) like York or Ownhammer?

I found the sound more interesting with neck and middle pickup (both single coil) and less with bridge humbucker.

Main problem with profiling is ALWAYS cab section.
    Because everyone have different taste.
And cab mic-ing is an art.
So most ppl do it really WRONG (even IK ...).

That's why there are thousands IR captures of the SAME cab/speaker combination.

So the first thing to do is disabling cab section and using your favorite IRs (Nebula OwnHammer for me).

You will get a reference to compare different sims.
Comparing an amp to another with different "stock" cab mic-ing is like comparing apples and oranges.

Cab mic-ing is the final ultimate ingredient. And so should be removed from the equation to compare amps.

With Amp+Cab captures, Tonex (and Kemper or TH-U) will capture the entire chain. If you disable the cab, it will try to "guess" the cab part of the tone to remove it. Kemper is quite good at this but Tonex does a very bad job spliting the cab part.

That's why using IRs with Direct or Merged (with cab disabled) captures in Kemper works so much better.

So, the best result with IRs will be with Tonex Amp (no cab) captures + your IRs.

GGD = GetGood Drums. They have the Zilla Cabs, Cali Cabs, and Gold Stack. All amazingly captured cabs. Can't recommend highly enough.

Absolutely agree with regards to the captures with cabs, the IK cabs are horrible. I've been capturing my own gear through a resistive load and applying GGD after and the results are really good.

I downloaded the app and presets but haven't installed yet.
I'd sooner put an SM57 in front of my EVH Iconic combo.
My Headrush MX-5 is also great but like Tonex, it's a snapshot.
I like Hi-def video (which changes over time as opposed to a snapshot).
When amp sims do duration of sound as well as the initial attack, I will join in.
Otherwise, you have a choice between envelope noise gates or endless sustain.
The Iconic combo has a noise gate that doesn't shut everything out, but it doesn't shut my guitar off with an envelope.

@izn444nz THU Rig Player with cab disabled give no problem.
And of course, separate "no cab" capture still better (but ppl dont always do it ... sadly).

I need to test the new ToneX engine (they changed it recently).

Direct Amp captures was not working properly. Some amps worked but the ones with more low end like Mesa and Diezel really was lacking badly! Hope the update fixes that, that's what they claim.

Too bad they say it's 30% more efficient but for some reason It's getting a lot more time to do the captures wi th same setup.

I agree, I think profilers (THU and ToneX) should propose "amp only" form + "chain" form.
In ToneX, there is a filter proposing to select amp only profiles or amp and cab / complex rig / stomp / stomp and amp.
For amp there are 276 results here.

Yeah I got the new version from sister. It DID import the files, or some of them, but there were no pictures of the amps and I can't remember if they made any sound. I had seen someone else post the same problem. Maybe the columns weren't it the right order? I did, however, download frederico's file and it worked perfectly. So big thanks to Federico!!! But, I would still like to get the hang of using your method because it sounds liks a better idea to just add new tone files than a whole library swap

It seems like the issue is that the "Version" column is in a different place in some people's library.db

In mine it's at the end. In some others it appears to be the second column. So for instance in your library it is probably the second column.

The fix is to tick the box "Column names in first line" this will ensure all the data is put into the right columns, I will alter the tutorial to reflect this.

Thanks bwzrd, I'm still failing to modify the library despite your excellent tutorial.
Why not posting the updated ToneModels.csv or updated new library for Dummies ?

[Edit] Where is the "Write Changes" button ?
I can't manage to do that in bwzrd's tutorial : "Hit « yes » to all, if you head over to the Browse Data tab and select ToneModels, you should now see you have around 2400 models if you imported both the currently available CSV files. Once you're satisfied all of the models have been imported correctly hit the "Write Changes" button at the top button bar and that's it you're done"

Otherwise, I have 2396 ToneModels with modified Frederico's Library+your last 3 csv. Is it correct ?

I'm not sure how many models Frederico removed, but the full library currently stands at over 2800 models, including the IK of course.

As for the Write Changes button, it's amongst the top row of function button on the software.

    Found, Thank you.
Failed again, I did what you told :
1° Column names in first line ticked
2° Conflict strategy "replace existing row"
But I still have message when importing csv :
"error importing data from record number 615.
Inserting row failed not an error
    "

I tried with Frederico's library, failed. Maybe it is my Windows 8.1 ?

Honestly not sure what the issue is. You could try editing that line out using excel or google sheets. Or set it ignore on conflict instead of replace, maybe that will help.

Maybe copy the library somewhere else as a backup and then delete the file from the documents folder. When you open Tonex it will generate a fresh default library.db. You can then try the import process again.

Thanks bwzrd, tried with W8.1/W10 and fresh default library.
I still have this message when importing csv :
"error importing data from record number 615.
Inserting row failed not an error
    "
