Hi everyone, hope you are doing fine.
Here is my most recently finished song. It's kind of trip hop(ish) cinematic style (think of noir old movies - that's the reason for the title). It fit very well in a sequence from Fritz Lang Metropolis known as Maria's dance scene.
    Hope you enjoy.

To really listen to your song, I had to go to your Bandcamp, here I was able to really appreciate your composition... without being... parasited by the images (sorry). In fact your nice montage of excerpts from "Metropolis" (and perhaps other b/w great classics?) have the tendency to supersede, "overwhelm" your music, so to share my first, instinctive impression: it's like the image... eat the sound!

As an old musician, I witnessed the birth of Youtube, and just before that, MTV was there... What I wanna say is that both have started an area where images became absolutely prominent, I'd say: paramount. In fact, they transformed the music business in an actual, mediatic industry. And I noticed then that our way to listen to Music radically changed, to the point where we can talk about "visual music".

But thanks to the gods of internet, there's still the good old Bandcamp, where you can quietly listen to Artists' creations, and really take the time to appreciate them...

After "Noir" I listened also to your "Incidental Music" album, and found it particularly interesting.

Your music is of a special kind, that don't let itself decipher easily: I mean that the listener have to go to your music, and not the opposite way. We really have to take the time, and listen to your songs several times to understand where you come from and where you go.

The shortness of most of the songs of your "Incidental Music" album made me think immediately about The Residents, and to the real shock I had then in the 80s when I discovered their "Commercial" album...!!! In fact I didn't understand what I listened to, a BIG suprise! It's only after have read several articles about them and listened different albums several times that I started to "understand" their art (not intellectually, regarding music I'm more an instinctive, animal creature).

The same shock occurred when I discovered Bauhaus, then Chrome, and I can't help but think that these very strange and deeply original bands/collectives have someway influenced your music, in the sense that you seem to have a certain "distance" with your subjects (and with the immediate reality in general), I really appreciate that, and the fact that each song is like a landscape that you seem to discover and explore at the same time as the listener...

The album I liked the most is "Almost Live", here I found your songs particularly inspired and deep, they really "talked" to me, I even think that the words are superfluous to describe my experience... At some moments, I thought about The Stranglers (their very first albums only), and all these 80's post-punk/Industrial Artists I still love today.

To sum up, I'd say that your talent is obvious, you don't just "make music" or "mix music", or also "produce music" like too many guys out there, you do Art, you have a real imagination, inspiration and sensitivity, I hope that you will make more albums like "Almost Live", because I'm pretty sure that these kind of songs can awake the ears of a "new generation" that was not even born in the 80's, that have never known an period of time without computer or internet...

Wish you a lot of concerts too!

First of all, thank you very very much for your detailed feedback. I really appreciate it, and am truly glad that you enjoyed some of my songs.
I would like to say that you got it pretty right: my approach to music making is more artistic (at least that is my intention), more in an expressionist/impressionist/experimental manner than in a commercial one - even the music I enjoy listening to has more of an artistic approach to it (pop is not really my cup of tea lol). I am more of a composer that learned production to have more control over the artistic work and decisions involved in the process, and have more ways to express my ideas and emotions and experiment creatively with sounds, climates and atmospheres.
I am also an old musician (in my mid forties, started my music journey in the early 1990s as a guitar player), and really wish I could simply release songs with no worries about images or other things attached. But as you pointed out, this imagetic drive/demand is ruling our society and also my small fanbase of listeners - most don't even know what bandcamp is and listen to my music solely through YouTube (not complaining, just a statement about our "society of spectacle" that we old school musicians have to adapt).
And yes, this experience of detachment, alienation, isolation, endless searching for something impossible to describe through words... that' s it. It's all here, and there, and everywhere.
Almost live is made of bedroom performances during the lockdown period , so as I could keep in touch with friends and acquaintances through my music during this period. It has more of an intimate vibe, I think. Very glad you enjoyed.
Here is a compilation of some of my songs I consider worth checking out. Kind of a best of lol. Once again, thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to listen, comment and understand.
