Your take sounds as if there were a speaker phone filter on it. Or is it due to the free voicebank?

I may have a go with the SynthV's Solaria voice. It seems the artifacts problems is considerably better.

 

It's probably part of the free voicebank and part of the effects I put on the voice I suppose.
I was trying around with some effects to get a horrorish like singing voice.
But in the end, I just wanted to showcase what even a beginner of Synth V like me can do with it.

 

I'm finding this really good to work with. Thirty minutes of tweaks and I've got a much more realistic and confident vocal.

Ahh, yes I see that now - I followed the linking in the page to the Bandcamp site.

 

Close. It's actually the full version of the Synth V and full version of Solaria. I'm really surprised by the results. And I should add that I hate software that needs extensive knowledge of the manual. This is exactly how I would want a vocal synth to work. I've only had it 24 hours and it's exceeding my expectations.

 

Any chance you could detail how the activation model works on SynthV? I'm interested in buying it sometime soon (still deciding between Solaria or ANRI), but I tend to avoid software that is intrusive. The basic version works great and doesn't bother you with registering or anything, so I'm interested in knowing how they handle the full version. Also, does it still come with a VST version?

 

I purchased the discounted bundle. Synth V Pro plus any vocalist . Not a big discount, but still. Once paid for I immediately received two download links with serial activations, which were automatically entered. No need to cut /paste. Windows and Mac installers are separate and for me on a Mac I just downloaded the VST and AU. I first went into the song I wanted to work on and added the Audio Unit. I don't think this is the best way to work. Since verses and choruses follow the same melody and phrasing (roughly speaking) I exported the music with a click track and opened Synth V as a Standalone. Once imported to the session, I matched the tempo and manually entered the notes (which is so easy when you can snap to grid) and lyrics. Once one verse was done, I "saved as" and got to work on verse 2. This took very little time.
Then export the vocal audio and it drop it into the project and you've avoided session singers asking for less drums, more piano, less reverb, more of me....much more of me....no, that's too much.

It works with the basic version, just drag and drop the solaria file into it and you're done..

 

This actually blew me away. For the bundle price, this sounds incredibly good considering what it does under the hood.
I see huge potential for writing and generating demo vocals before choosing or recording a singer or even adding (in this case) female harmonies to your own vocal track.
Interestingly the lite version with the free voicebanks sounds pretty good already, even though the one I tried is natively made for Japanese lyrics and it got fed with English lyrics. Half an hour of playing around with it and I'm pretty much sold.

 

That's so realistic. It's a compliment for both the creator and you.
It's just a pity there weren't any native English speaker singer around the developers. It fabulously sounds Philippine.

If there are problems with diction and phrasing, it's a matter of becoming familiar with phonemes. For example, I'm Australian and the US pronunciation of dew is Doo.... so I typed in dyoo.
My knowledge of the depth of the program is scant and I'm sure I'll improve over time.

Interesting you should say that as i am married to a Filipina.

I played with Vocaloid a bit and now this (lite voices) It really helps to be creative in spelling as your example shows.
.. and now i wonder about special characters

What I meant to say (besides of joking) was related to the attack of each syllable and some consonants that Asian people have difficulties to pronounce. And why I chose to mention Philippine is that culturally they do a lot of famous western (English speaking countries') song covers and release them. It's not so much about the dialect.
This American girl has a nasal voice which also explains what I was complaining about.

 

After a couple of weeks with Dreamsynth V I'm finding it to be a real pleasure to use. For the right material it is more than adequate.
