is there an eq that identifies resonant peaks on its own

i think a weiss eq could do that or am i wrong?

even not free i'd like to know which ones can do that as i think it would be hard to find a free one for this

    thanks!!

soothe2 looks better i didn't compare much to dseq yet

    thanks all

Fabfilter Pro-Q3 does this. You hover your mouse over for a second and the wave turns purple, and then adds tooltip bubbles over the peaks showing the frequencies for your attention. Or dynamically.

UVI Shade as an EQ will just let you drop points nearly anywhere you want. Whatever filter type, and nearly any other detail you can imagine.

It does in a way - you just have to play a bit with the sidechain EQ on the bottom left.

Besides Soothe and DSEQ there is also the Melda MautoDynamicEQ, which can detect resonances and remove them automatically (See this picture on the bottom -> analyse & remove resonances) https://www.meldaproduction.com/webtemp/imagecache/screenshots/MAutoDynamicEq00.v1.jpg

I tried DSEQ in the early stages till DSEQ2 version and it not even close to soothe2. soothe2 better. I don't know, maybe DSEQ3 is good now.

This previous thread sums up the two pretty well:
    https://audiosex.pro/threads/oeksound-soothe2-vs-tbproaudio-dseq-edit-2020-04-22.53224/

But all in all, either tool will accomplish what OP wants. I wouldn't say one is "better" than the other, just different workflows

to hear the peak i have to continually be pressing that headphone icon with the mouse. i have to hold left click on mouse continually, or can it remain selected by a single click somehow? or a keyboard shortcut?

In Fabfilter? I would make the adjustment at the peak, after thinking about why I am doing it. And then re-hover the mouse. You would learn some more things that way also. Because you would be dealing with specific frequency ranges over and over, manually. Example, 100 for your kick. 300 for your mud. Or whatever you tend to generate in your tracks.

Don't you work in Reaper? You could look, and see if the available modes are EQ or Comp; or if there is also a dynamic eq mode. Otherwise, Comp mode might be closer to your requested processor. Is that some kind of Sound Forge 4.5 skin on there? :guru:

Toneboosters Sibalance is very good for that purpose (you can use it free in demo mode without restrictions, but should buy a license if you plan to use it in your projects).

TDR Nova GE also has resonant detection and dynamic reduction.

TDR Nova GE and SlickEQ GE have de-resonate 'smart ops' to identify and apply dynamic EQ/comp resonant frequencies. The de-resonate in Nova GE is more surgical than the one in SlickEQ GE.

    I don't have DSEQ/soothe2, so can't compare.

What you are asking for is not an EQ, but is called a Resonance Supressor.
Am I correct in assuming that the question refers to your last thread?
Maybe it would be more helpful for you to describe your problem in more detail or present sample material that shows the problem instead of asking for more tools? Just a thought...
I would bet that your DAW already has everything you need to solve your problem.
