I tried Reason and FL studio in the past to see if I would like it/get other ideas.
But I work with Cubase. That just works best for me. I think I would also be able to quickly get used to Logic and Studio One, both being very similar to Cubase. I am stuck on Cubase, this will probably never change.

I remember when i had problem with anything other than the FL11...bro, i pull up Ableton 10 and i freeze.

Now i think i can use Ableton and Cubase alongside FL11...but, it distinctivly changes what i produce.

Ableton i get going and suddenly a House or a progressive techno track is on the way
Cubase i get chord like progressions with more feel than the other two daws, piano roll is 20% harder than the FL so i pay more attention to it for some reason. FL is just stupid quick...it takes more beating.
FL11 i never get the same groove or swing as those above, but i get fast loops, rhythms and throwing plugins from a browser window, linking channels is super quick for crazy effects.
Reaper is great for inputs and recording midi/audio but the Piano roll confuses me...i like humanise option tho

If someone asked me a somewhat experimental track it would be made in Cubase, the other two are always "predictable" if i may say offending noone.

Actually, none of this has any sense.

The craziest thing is i have Cubase 5 VST32 and i do not want to play with it because every time i do i make a wierd groovy track that i like later on so i keep it open for the future and more expirience because i feel it would be a very productive tool with its limitations and the old age.

I have W98 machine with Cubase 2.8 that i am kinda preparing for sequencing the hw stuff

I love making music in FL Studio, love the creative workflow, but mixing is not good as it should be (natives are just bad compared to others devs.) Thinking about StudioOne for mixing the stuff i produce in FL

Wasn't the OP the one who made one of the most epic thread titles I've ever seen here?
The thread's title was like "Ok, I've decided I'm a mixing engineer, what next?"

I shit you not guys

This is just bad advice. Just because you can't instantly be as effective in a new DAW as your old, doesn't mean you should NEVER try another. Imagine applying that mentality to plugins...

Plenty of people have moved on from one DAW to another and 'never looked back'. Just because you don't or can't, doesn't mean others won't.

"Never" has a finality to it that sometimes always kills your creative drive every once in a while.

I started off on FL Studio then later I went searching for a new DAW because I didn't really like it's interface.

Then I found REAPER and haven't looked back since.

Time change, people change. That's a fact of life. For years, I'd been a rock/ska/reggae guitarist, engineer and producer.

Now that I'm a semi-recluse, I can't play in bands anymore. That means my music had to change.

Since I'm a solo act now, the best thing for me is to compose ambient, psychill, chillgressive, downtempo, midtempo and other related instrumental tracks.

I disagree, I used FL Studio for years thinking it had everything I needed. I was wrong. My friend showed me Reaper and this theme called Dark Side Imperial and I immediately fell in love, it just feels right and my workflow is 10x better now.

Yeah, I will totally use Ableton for orchestral 100+ track projects now!
No project navigation, you can't even hide tracks, not even a key command for bouncing lmao

But nah for real, that'd not be limiting myself but being masochistic.

My offer for you: try what I mentioned above and tell me that limitations breed creativity again
it only works to an extend. no 100%

use whatever tools you are comfortable with to get the job done.
don't limit yourself to just one solution.

I spent 5 years on FL Studio suffering with performance issues and crashes
Decided to look at other daws and the way they worked just made more sense to me, ended up switching to studio one never crash now can run literally 50% more plugins

There have luckily been null tests which prove that the $50 DAW sounds just like the $500 one. So it shouldn't matter.

Changing your DAW is like changing your grip when you jerk off. It's interesting at first but you always go back.

i don't know dude, i've tried other daws.... but i always have it way more simple in studio one. those d*ckheads from presonus really did a good daw and even giving more for less money (considering that it hits with the big ones, the artist version on S1 V5 that i use, gives a lot)

DAW hopping is definitely a form of procrastination. If you're producing film or video, you'd most likely choose Premiere OR Final Cut. You wouldn't hop back and forth. These programs, video editors and DAW's are crazy complex, and getting really good and intimate with the depth of each takes a lot of time. That's the problem with warez, you get most everything for free so it becomes an addiction to try out everything and collect samples. But if your goal is to make a living doing music, choose a DAW and learn the shit out of it. Not saying you can't change at some point, but one is all you need.
