Is it a good idea to remove the noise on guitars? [solved]

    Hy Folks!
Well, whenever I mix a song, I don't always take out the guitar noise, and sometimes I forget to take out the background noise even when the guitar isn't playing. So now I was wondering if it would be good to take out the noise, even when it is playing. Using plugins that remove the noise.
But why I ask if it is a good idea?
We know that most or all plugins, besides removing noise, remove harmonics. So I was wondering if it was really a good idea to sacrifice some harmonics for that noise.
Do you have any experience with this? mixing with noise and without noise?

Hiss? Hum? Removing noise spectrally (FFT) with something like iZotope RX10 (spectral de-noise) will alter the tone in one way or another. Yin/yang.

My guitars are pretty much noiseless, thankfully. Try to remove or stay away from interference/RF/EMI in the first place and you will be better off.

Not sure what you exactly mean by noise.
The strings ringing in the background or a static kind of sound?
In the first case I would probably use a fret wrap to get a even tighter result also a decent playing technique is key for a good recording.
The second one is usually fixed with a gate since most high gain guitars have this "static noise sound" in the background.

Maybe an example would be good to get a better picture.
Also don't forget to high and low cut the guitar aswell as taking out some of the 4k frequencies with very small EQ moves.
High gain guitars usually have to be good at the source otherwise it's a nightmare to work with them

    Sorry, I forgot to specify.
Mainly static noise I think it is.
    Here is an example
But I would like to know if it is convenient to eliminate all kind of noise.

There is no right answer. Sometimes noise is part of the life, sometimes removing all the noise means you end up removing the life, and that can be boring, sterile, yawn.

Interference. Bad grounding. Make sure your grounding is on point. You can also shield your cavities and pickguard with copper tape against EMI (electro-magnetic interference), RF (radio frequencies), etc. You are most likely sitting near a transmittor like a computer, amp, screen or whatever.

Is said noise bothersome in any way while the guitar is "active"? Then yes. If not, you could just edit the takes (removing the silent parts, adding fades, etc.) for good measure and call it a day. Aside from that, noise is not always bad (or good), the problem really comes when it distracts the listener from the experience and that depends a lot on the context. Same goes for noise reduction, even if you apply a shit ton of it but the important parts of the guitar are there (important for the context), then it's no big deal.

    So basically, use your ears.

This. Also turn around, see if you can get the guitar to face in a position that gives you less noise

A good compromise is a noise gate well calibrated.

Depends on what the noise is?
Depends what you are trying to achieve?
Depends if it really matters? (are millions of ears going to be hearing this?)
Depends what style of music you are playing?
Depends if you've compared a mix with the noise to a mix without the noise?
Depends if you are the noise, and should try learning a different instrument?
Depends if you need a better question to find a better answer?
    Depends ....

I stay away or turn away from electronic when i record, because my D Sonic pickup is very noisy.

DI box do nothing on EMI.
This is NOT a ground loop.

Some guitar noise remover virtual pedals do a good job.
    There is one in Amplitube.

It sounds like single-coil pickup noise Ryck, are you using a strat? If so you should research this as there are various solutions.

If you're using humbuckers maybe it's an earthing problem but it will be easier to fix than if it's a strat.

I listened to the sample and to be honest I would probably not use that sound in a production unless you have to.
Try to get the source tone right because no matter how much you would tweak the sound it would be not as good as a well captured recording.
    What is your signal line?
Usually when im recording I don't have any noise at all maybe try checking your pickups or cable.
What kind of guitar do you use for tracking?

Edit: Nevermind just saw the post that you are too close to your pc

Thing to remember is that a noise-gate doesn't remove the noise while you are playing, since it's still there. It's better to reduce the actual noise overall at the source (as I've explained).

If it's a Stratocaster. single-coil. I thought this noise was normal, whenever we got together to play with friends we always heard this noise in the amp, insignificant in "Clean" but very annoying when you use distortion. Now I haven't tried it with the amp as I'm just trying to record. I'll have to see if the noise continues with the amp.
