OPs problem is thermal throttling. Old laptops simply aren't good enough for this. Lot of people have similar experience with laptops. You could try tweaking bios settings, if you haven't yet. C-state or whatever those tweaks were.

My original CPU was Intel i3-3110M 2.4GHz (2 Cores, 4 Logical Processors).
    I bought i7-3630QM 2.4GHz (4 Cores, 8 Logical Processors) for few bucks.
    And I switch them.

Now I found info that i7 2.4GHz have some boost technology and can work in 3.4GHz.
Maybe if I tweak it and change it permamently to 3.4GHz it will help with the situation with DSP Emu.
But I don't know is this possible.
Right now I have problem with turning off.
When I play some CPU hungry game after 2 - 3 hours pc is getting quickly hot and after 15 minutes turn off.
When I turn it on quickly after it there is same situation after few minutes. I need to wait to cool down around 30 minutes to play again those 2 hours.
I need new power adaptor? Current one is too weak for better CPU? Or problem is somewhere else?

I'd go first to the power settings and select the "performance plan". That plan will give you max boost at moments but still variable frequency. Which is the right choice for a laptop. IF you're gonna tweak for more I'd recommend some external cooling.

I have high performance plan and in advanced settings minimal CPU 100%, Max CPU 100%.
In my apartment is temperature 14°C Does it count as external cooling?

    Yes, seems like it.
Managed to load 24 one-note instances of DSP56300 with your crazy preset on Ableton Live 11, before it started hitting 100% CPU

I want to see (and buy ^^) a CPU that can do at least 1K MIPS.
    Please post...

PS: Maybe the Intel Core i9-13900K can do it?

    @No Avenger
The i7 3770 is an outstanding CPU (price/performance ratio).
If you bought that one in 2012/2013 for around 250 euro. You did well :)

    Thanks for the hints.
OP suggested this setup for comparison, that's why I used it.

Agreed. For something that in principle belongs to the Museum of Ancient Tech [IMG] it's pretty performant.
And I bought a bit [cough] later for way less. :winker:

    Interesting that @denorte's
has more MIPS. But 44 instances should be sufficient for a small track. :winker:

It's very interesting that ~544 MIPS Intel CPU can run 2x more instances in DAW than ~620 MIPS AMD CPU.

PS. Number Of DSP Emu Instances in DAW is very important. I forget about it. I should add it as TEST 3.

44 with Fl Studio, i probably could get more with another daw as fl isn't very optimized cpu wise

ps i did some memory/timing tweaking in bios.

after i closed a few apps i was able to push it to 46 with cpu going 96 98% but honestly it felt so laggy i don't think it's usable... maybe it's FL being lazy gui wise?

Hmm... But do you did this?
All the instances was playing midi note?

"Run DSP56300 Emulator VST in your DAW
    Load Preset: "CPU TEST"
Make 1 Midi note 1 bar long, loop it and click play
Duplicate Audio Track with plugin few times until your CPU hit 99% or start to be laggy
Make sure that all the instances playing 1 midi note bar loop"

I was doing such performances yesterday so I will give this a go.
    Hope it helps fellow producers.

    CPU: Intel i9-12900H
    OS: Windows 11 22h2 Custom
DAW: Ableton Live 11 (11.1 build)
DAW Settings: ASIO4All (Overall Latency 23.6 ms) / Sample Rate 44100 (Realtek stock audio device under).
    VST Version: DSP56300 Emulator v1.2.20 (VST2

    Test1
    Around 640 1.2.20 test console
(and around 230 with an old console -prolly 1.2.04-)
    upload_2022-10-4_18-58-31.png

    Test2
    3%-5%

    Test3
20 instances with absolutely no lag, sound untouched, 21 instances will cut the sound a little.

I perceive a 35% improvement performance over AMD Ryzen 9 5900hx (but not over 5900x or 3900x, those are fast, I tend to like AMD more these days - 2022).

If you are consider building a new DAW; I really recommend you to check this site. It has the most useful processor rating list that holds to reality, they add new processors often. Server, Desktop and Mobile...
