Ah, okay! I understood it as they would be completely separate plug-ins. But will Tone-X still have a separate plug-in, or do you only use it through Amplitube?

Had exactly the same opinion when I tried it yesterday.
Overloud Rig Player has better sound/response. Only if they improved the TH-U user interface "a la Amplitube"... it would be killer.

I haven't heard a single modeling thing that can keep up with the pressure of a real tube amp... I don't know about you in that regard...

Seems to me the metal guys don't like it, i think they need more hi fi full frequency range to get the thud or whatever, for me and others who are lo gain classic rock blues etc, its the best moddler I've ever heard, I'm blown away buy it, I was using TH-U with IRs but this is just a lot faster and more organic for me, and i feel like i can hear a speaker in a room moving air. Again i think Hi gain people want the super tight up close to the speaker direct in to the ear thing, where vintage vibes there are a few feet of space there.

@Zenarcist With Helix and ToneX, you are set with virtual fuzz boxes. I still use my Fuzz Factory clone
Try Helix "Industrial Fuzz" (Fuzz Factory) and ToneX "Bender"

@RADAR i was thinking like you ... until Mooer MNRS 2, Kemper, Neural DSP, THU Rig Player...
Now it is only a matter of REAL AIR. You want the pressure ?

Take Mooer MNRS, Kemper, Neural DSP, THU Rig Player ... profilers/plugins.
Disable cab section, use a 200W+ solid state power amp into a REAL cab.
You will have the feel AND air pressure for sure.
It will not work with FRFR or anything else than a real cab.

You can even keep the virtual cab section and use Celestion F12M-150 or Kemper Kone speakers.

That was the trick behind Vetta amps : blend of real cab AND virtual amps into solid state power.
Big guys like Symphony X or Fear Factory toured with them.

See my previous posts to hear one mic ed.

@ampworks that's exactly what i said  It can work from clean to light crunch.
After that, it sounds muddy, aggressive, no balls ...

I still don't get HOW they got clean to drive so nicely BUT totally failed on high gain.

Mooer MNRS 2 is the opposite
It works from high gain to crunch ... and fail on Fender/light Vox sound.

NDSP, Kemper and THU RP nails ALL sounds from clean to lead.

With THU, don't use IR for vintage sound : use the integrated RP cab for more "air" (especially on BM Wisselord and such good ones).
You can even use any RP cab on ANOTHER rig profile.
Or add a "room verb" after your IRs. Some IR makers even provide "ambient" IR
Or try THU SuperCabinet : You can set distance and more

It will help a lot on "vintage vibe" with more ambience and air

PS : tried it again ... impossible to get any decent crunch pick attack DEFINITION
It is a clean/drive machine only
    Everything else sound flabby

sounds interesting and plausible, but what you describe is too complicated for me as a purist/minimalist. in the end it's about being satisfied with your sound and having fun and that's the case with my minimalistic setup :)

I remember hearing his solo in the "Get the Funk out" videoclip on TV. Didn't know nothing about the band. One day later I had bought the album in vinyl. What a guitarist... :beg:
Man, I feel old... wait, I am old!!!

So my first impression is quite ok...

Some amps sound pretty good (especially the clean amps)...

The sound possibilities are enormous ... for such a sound selection in the studio with hardware you would have to spend several tens of thousands of euros!

Tone x reacts quite authentically to switching different pickups and volume potie...

I really liked the capture function, the result is sometimes better than Kemper and similar devices (very impressive).

i have the mesa boogie mark 5 at home and in comparison the Tone X is a toy with undefinable noises .

My conclusion: a very good solution for recording on the PC at home , but not an alternative to the REAL THING for professional guitarists.

I tested ALL crunch/high gains amps : ToneX can't capture anything right above drive/early crunch.
It will NEVER "chug" "crunch" for rock hard rock metal.

And when i talked about it, i already tested everything

So here is the challenge : find ANY heavy crunch/chug from ToneX
When you found the unicorn ... tell me :wink:

with Apple's planned SW obsolence, I bet any iPad or Mac becomes paperweight much sooner than QC or Kemper,
Overloud THU still sounds best imo, even the older TH3 isn't that bad,
one thing I like about ToneX are few included guitar grooves, so you can go through sounds without being guitarist at all :)

Yeah, I plan to on win 7. But it seems like some of the other guys in here say it's pretty much a dud for hard rock & Metal. But if the clean tones are as good as people here said it was then it would be a keeper for me still as good clean tones are always useful too.

Now that I have tried it a lot, I can say that it is a marvel. I can't compare it with any other emulator. It really sounds different. I dare not say it sounds the same as an amplifier. But the quality of sound and realism is amazing, it surpasses all other guitar emulators. That's not to say that THU, Guitar Rig, etc. are not good emulators, they are excellent. But what I am saying is that this sounds different, very crisp, very clear, a lot of presence.
What I do find is that there is a problem with the volume when you change presets, some sound very low and need more gain.

I tried to install it using the "IK Product Manager", but it always gets stuck and won't really init / finish the installation process.

This does not sound good enough to me to make it on my records. It is yet another great solution for practising and noodling, but is not there yet. Disappointing after the hype. Only Neural DSP, with the right processing, has been able to replace physical amps so far.
