I used a fat brass in a track, but its so... undefiened. You know, doesnt hit like it it should, its a bit messy. Have problems explaining it, I wanna make it more gangster, if that helps...?
I make trap, so maybe some of you will be able to guess where I wanna go. The brass isnt hold long, its more like hard hitting brass stabs.

If you know any EQ tricks, enhancement plugins that make the brass cooler, whatever... Please tell me. I just dont get to the result I want, but Im so close

sounds like you need a different patch or to layer it with other sounds or octaves/keys

Nah not really. The sound is okay, it just need that extra tweaking. Thats why I put this post tp Mixing and Mastering instead of Working with Sound

Does Your Brass sound solo played ok?
    Just some basic Tricks:
You should Pay attention to Instrument Frequency conflicts. Mute other Instruments one by one to find the conflicting Instrument.
Cut the unneeded Low on brass.

and let us hear what You arranged

@Nima: Brass was layered, turned out with the same brass but with some different tunings (these soudnfonts *no* )...

When I turn down the layered its not that muddy anymore, but it looses its playcement in the whole mix.

@X: Thks will try the freebie *yes*

best ways to make hardknocking brass trap are

    - take the right instrument, nexus, edirol orchestral, studiolinkedvst brass has definately the best brasses
    - start layering to make it thick
    -use compression and limiting
    - use saturation and distortion to make it rough
    - ore analogue EQ emulation to make it louder from waves, psp
-change the ADSR , especially the release if you make short abrupt brasses
-use portamento , glide ,to make a soft slide

    thats more than enough

and very important is,to use the output in mono so that the midi notes dont clash each other if you play the brass fast

I personally think if your trying to get a bigger sound you have 2 choices.

    1. layer more brass to make it more full witch would also fattin it up
    2. Use a higher quality assortment of Brass sounds. It sounds like what u used was Nexus honestly. Me personally Im never using Nexus ever again
the sounds are not only over used but U can tell that ever well known trap producer uses it. Thats not a good thing in my opinion.

Your better of using Kontakt library and just start building your brass section libraries in Kontakt.
Its more realistic and the sound is Epic and Big.

    Must have libraries:

    Orchestral Brass
    Session Horns
    Cinematic Brass
    Cinesamples Cine Brass
    EWQL Colosus Brass Sections
    EWQL Gold Brass Sections

Great thing is u can make your own custom Brass and they will always sound Fat. No doubt!
FYI no one will really no what your using exactly as well

Just making it clear because I think theres some confusion: I dont wanna make my sound bigger, Im actually quiet saticfied with the sound I have. I just want it a bit less muddy and let it hit a bit harder, also stand out a bit more in the mix...

@musicmajor Nope it isnt Nexus  I actually dont like that plugin either. Its a free soundfont.

I'm inclined to say do some EQing to boost the high freqs, like cut the low freqs &/ stick in a high shelf.

Maybe use an exciter, &/ image widening.

Good Nexus sucks lol. When I'm looking to get a Gutter type brass I use Waves GTR and some of my UAD eq's. Everyones suggestions are pointing in the direction of good EQ and Distortion I think thats a good conscious. U can also try parallel compressing it that should help.

I´m not so much into Trap, but maybe you could try a transient shaper like the included in Alloy.
Maybe adding saturation, distortion or boosting highs is overloading your mix, so you don´t have enough contrast, or add it with a per band distortion, just where your "hitting frequencies" are, and leaving undistorted or less distorted the low-low mid stuff (to avoid muddiness).

I haven't heard the sounds you have uploaded, but from the descriptions (muddy, sharper etc), it seems what is wanted is more presence.

If that is the case, then you could give the Abbey Road Brilliance Pack a try. Use that, or try emulating it with a decent EQ plugin *yes*

    For those who are interested:
The solution was a well known and often hated enhancement plugin called
    [IMG]
    SOUNDGOODIZER

A one-knob/4-preset wonder which shouldnt be used for mastering, but really can give your sounds some power.

It's a 3+1 multi-band compressor, who do not know what that means: Its a limiter, compressor and a eq boost!!!!
He's bigger is Maximus Multiband Maximizer
    AKA LazyMAN Tools lol
