Just installed UAD Spark Plugins and I've got 2 say this: WOW just WOW what a sound ,honestly these are the best sounding plugins.
I have compared them with all the others (Same Ones) with the same settings and none of them even comes close to the sound that UA Plugins produce,just pure crispy Sound.

I really hope that Team R2R can bless us with these plugins

 

someone previously said that they have the same layers that protools has... so it is gonna difficult

 

I too have a old Win7 desktop and still keep a core2duo XP Pro laptop around chock full of old school DAWs and plugins for old projects and of course other reasons being discussed here. None of the above have ever been connected to the internet, not once, and still working as new. I mean what else to do with these things, throw away or sell for a few crumbs? And this UAD ilok always online rent scheme? Nah.....

 

I tried to download the trial version for 14 days and never got the link to my email, it says pay per month or full year.
I hope to be able to test these add-ons.

things is, if a person wants to work offline with the UAD Spark plugins, they just have to move the licenses from the ilok cloud to their physical ilok.

 

All plugins "emulations" are not based on the same hardware machine so they can't sound the same...

 

I'd say that's shocking but its exactly what you'd expect from them

All the effort they're throwing into this thing and they still haven't, last time I installed, created VST3 versions of the dongle software, that people paid $10,000+ for, which is already an unsupported format according to Steinberg - not to mention if you paid 2k per dongle on top of that

Then you see people getting the same $10k plugins for $20 a month, that would take 500 months to pay the equivelant for, on a format that's actually supported going forward (VST3), while your dongles become worthless and you still can't use the software you bought on VST3 format, current standard in VST...

And if you own an Apollo (like I do) you only get to use two copies of some plugins, with your dongle, whilst the new favourites get to use infinite copies of the same software, that they'll probably never pay anywhere near as much for

There is literally no way that a plug-in can give you better DAC/monitoring quality/clarity. You are still using your PCs built-in interface so the only difference you get with a tape sim is added distortion and noise (and EQ curve). This is in no way similar to what a proper DAC does to your monitoring chain. A tape plug-in is an effect you add to alter the sound of your mixes. A DAC/interface don't.

A real recording interface won't change the quality of the files you've already recorded either, you'll only be able to hear the full quality of those files because the DAC in a recording interface is usually better (assuming you buy a high quality interface and good headphones or monitors).

However, the biggest difference will make is that you can actually record high-quality files with it. As you are not using a recording interface I'm assuming that you don't even record your own stuff, and in that case you might as well buy only a DAC and some good monitors so that you hear what you are mixing.

Okay, I've been making use of this 14-day trial for the last 2 days, playing with the different effects, eq, compressors, etc.. They all sound pretty good as expected. BUT, something that really stood out for me was the tape recorder. I think it is the best digital emulation I've ever heard in my life. It is dead accurate. I can't really explain how so, just try it. It's magical. The saturation is soooooo warm and even at subtle configuration it makes a difference, there is an analog spice to it, and im forreal. I think I understand now why people love UAD plugins so much; they are actually really good.

 

Tried this for 14 days and the API Vision Channel Strip was my go to for every channel.

I just want more choices of plugins like the SSL's and Neve's before committing to the monthly subs.

 

Crack dealers don't usually have complaint departments. Speaking of UAD tech support, try getting them on the phone.

No. I have separate emails (old vs new email). UAD and Ilok are 2 different systems and not linked. It's up to you how you link. I do have my license transferred to an actual ilok key.

 

Have you managed to install this on an offline computer using an iLok key? I tried dragging the vst3's that I own into Common Files and they show up in the DAW and try to load but I don't have my iLok key yet

 

i think there is a special Place in Hell for Subscription-based Software Companies like Avid and UA

I've never tried the phone but have contacted them twice by email and they've always gotten back to me within 24hrs.
