It's a shame they didn't just include Tone-X into Amplitube. I guess a separate plug-in is the most profitable.

Assign custom skins to your modeled gear and open them as a plug-in or standalone inside the TONEX software and app, or AmpliTube 5 for Mac/PC

    Now serious things begins.

It is a DIRECT concurrent to Neural DSP Quad Cortex cloud integration (you NEED cloud to use QC ... meaning if NDSP close doors, you get a gigantic QC paperweight) AND Kemper of course (ToneX get a better capture, like QC).

And of course THU Rig player (closed third party) as a plugin and NDSP plugins.

Imagine now you put an iPad or laptop in a protected rack, and get a BETTER sound than a Kemper or SAME than QC for some hundred bucks second hand ?
Use an FCB1010 or FVB Line6 as pedal control. Throw any good soundcard and go !

I can do that for less than half the price of QC or Kemper.

I'm keen to test this one to see how it compares to other options, but a Kemper is still the first choice for many live performers with good reason.

guys, i've been using the rocktron chameleon for many, many years... i've never felt the need for anything else...it sounds really stunning and has everything a purist needs...i still use the EHX POG2 pedal for experimental sound and am highly satisfied.

There is lot's of nice gear available, but two racked Kemper's on the road is pretty much the fail safe option. Low latency, redundancy and predictable output, with no software to crash at the wrong moment. :)

I wouldn't take the Quad Cortex on the road as one wrongly placed beer would finish it off! [IMG]
Nice for the studio though, if their amp offerings can equal the Kemper

Rocktron makes great stuff! The first band I played in (when I was 12 until 15) always used a Rocktron Twin Combo that belonged to the dad of our drummer. Actually all of the amps belonged to his dad. I was playing bass through a Fender Silverface Bassman 100, my brother played guitar through a Mesa Studio 22 and the other guitarist through the Rocktron Twin Combo. Great times! :)

@Zenarcist QC users like Megadeth don't put it on the floor : it is in a closed case and remote/ guitar tech controlled
    And DOUBLED too, of course
Power stage and real signature cab

    Here it is :

@RADAR About Rocktron yes, i know them since their first "tube hybrid" model !

Dedicated to you : both guitarists on Rocktron Prophecy  (at 3:00)

About Kemper VS QC, ToneJunky solved the question into the previous video : Kemper is awesome for 11 years ... because we already reached a plateau for 10 years.

And here is a Vetta (pod HD tech) from 10 years + ago :

    Read reviews for Quad Cortex.
    There are quality issues.
"The unit was extremely buggy and locked up on me during a live show, prompting a restart in between songs (take 2 minutes to boot). The power supply is cheap and gave a ground loop hum, making it borderline unusable for recording."
"I purchased and within the 6 months I owned it, it failed during two live shows! Long + Mcq was very good about returning the unit for a full refund. I literally had a 2800.00 paperweight."
I thought about upgrading to the QC from my MX-5, but the MX-5 is solid and reliable.

    This guy is AMAZING
He is full of love and wisdom ... and i can hear it since day one

Side note : we can think he is OVER playing on the guitar for the clip ... but not.
He is REALLY hitting the strings like crazy. And that's a big part of his sound.

Forget about what i said
    Revolution is not there :bleh:

    Mini ToneX review

MOST models are badly captured, like Mooer MNRS 2.0 devices/Ge Labs.
And sometimes WORST than them (remember : Ge Labs is almost free).

Even if ToneX DON'T "fizz" (until they pushed the "after gain" knob too far ...) unlike bad captures on MNRS 2.0.
Only FEW models "chug" for high gain. It is a BAD sign... Because a lot of profilers realism is in this "crunch" pick attack.

SOME good drive/crunch amp IF you don't push them in the hard rock territory. Only rock/blues.
Fuzz pedals are very good (Helix ones are too, BTW).

IRs don't work right with their captures.
Don't know why, because i use the SAME IRs with other profilers with no problems ...
Only their VIR works right as "alternative" cab from one in the capture itself, with a very nice setting system.
    Especially 412 like 1960 B30 RKV GRN RKB ...

    Tips:
Reset the chain (left icon) to start from scratch
Use bass at 0 + freq to low cut

YES it CAN sound good BUT i feel it is NOT up to THU Rig Player or Neural DSP plugins for whatever reason.

    No attack pick crunch.
    Muddy bass.
    Aggressive high freqs.
    A night mare to set.

It is a LOT easier to me to get a good sound from THU Rig Player with disabled cab AND my fav IRs/Nebula Cabs.
It is even easier to get a good crunch attack with Mooer GE200+ or Ge Labs with Anthony Class preamps ... a shame for the price they ask.

    What happened ?
Don't know ... i will wait a little and test more.

It feels like a bad GuitarML/open source profiler implementation.
Whereas THU Rig Player "Kemper reverse eng" is a success.

So back to THU Rig Player with cab disabled and OwnHammer Revolution or their old Nebula cabs.
Sorry guys being too enthusiastic :wink::winker:
They took the best profiles for demo ... and that's why there is no high gain metal demo

PS : you can use THU rig player on ipad for live too

It's very clear from their own video that there is a difference between Tone X and real amp, when I have my eyes closed. I can feel a switch in tone. It's not bad, no one would tell that the sound isn't a real amp. But it's not exactly as the reference. The Quad Cortex makes it more difficult to find differences between the reference tone.

It was less clear on clean/drive tones.
    But obvious on crunch/lead.

Probably a bad gain structure capture. And you can't push it afterward ... because it become fizzy compressed.

"Mood" is there ... but it is not enough.
Really a shame from ppl "in the game" for decades.

Amplitube 1 was the FIRST realistic amp sim plugin suite.
    I loved it.

Now it seems ppl from Overloud took the game with their "closed third party" system.

Problem now for IK : it is a WHOLE system. So they are probably not going to fix it, due to ppl starting using it.
    Too bad ...
