I really hope they add some of their other plugins to Spark, a lot of their best ones are not included yet like Fairchild. I would pay 25 a month for all their plugins. That works out as cheaper than owning all the plugins for the first 10 years

i found out how to get around this.

i had to move the licenses from the ilok cloud to my physical ilok. after that i was able to go offline.

 

That has always been the case with ilok VSTs, with the key you can go offline. Of course you need to buy/have a key to do that, taking up a USB port.

 

HaHa I wouldn't be surprised if that would be a goal of them.... take the scene by another big wave again ;)

iLok warns you that your subscription is due to expire. Then you have to go online and hit "refresh licenses".

 

Doesn't matter how long I've been into music production. A number of factors play a huge part in my decisions. I have a few releases under my belt, and a few more being released over the next few months. Thankfully my mastering engineer knows how to make some of my tracks 'shine'. That's all I can ask for.

Edit: Also this thread is about the release of Spark for Windows - not about me and my musical experience.

 

I've so far found the Digital Grunge preset to have the hum. Other presets don't seem to have it. Maybe missed one or two others. Also some hum in one of the presets in one of their EQ plugins.

 

Too little, too late, especially for the Windows community. There are so many alternatives that don't require ilok, or phone home, or never actually owning the plugins that make UAD extinct except for those locked into their overpriced, out of date chipped, DSP boxes. I'll pass. What happens if you're really in it, server goes down, ilok goes down and the clock is ticking, or server cut off forever like what happened to Native Instrument customers?
If I buy something, I want to own it outright.

 

After testing, in projects, not bad but not so good too, after the hype the
disappointment. In fact not totally, the LA2 comp is good to me and I like the lexicon 224.
Apart from instruments the plugins are CPU friendly.
So I'm mixed I expected better plugins but in fact there a lot of hype behind this brand, they are not bad, but not ultra, extra, best emulations of the solar system IMHO.
For 1073 sound I prefer burnley from sonimus, the UA one sound very strange to me
particularly the saturation.

Afetr all:
I need to stay online to use them ? I don't like this.
I need to pay every month 19.99$ ? I don't like this.
And I have others and better options for somes of hardware plugins emulation.
Finally I'm an Kush addict user.(maybe off topic ?)

So I will wait for cK version.

UAD back to there militias behavior installing crap without asking like reporting error services, Microsoft edge dependency, Ilok and stay online to use( really ),what is the panic about ?, people own those plugin with the biggest dongle on the planet...

 

Yes, you can basically stay offline with a ilok usb dongle until you need to renew your subscription. And unfortunately it has now become the same mechanism adopted by many companies, including Pro Tools, McDSP, Sonnox.

 

After all, having never been touched by R2R or other Teams, they believe that the ilok dongle is the best way to protect their products, while abusing legit users.

 

SSL Native and Softube have chosen different paths, while remaining full ilok. There is always a choice in my opinion. I was hoping that UAD after all these years would make a different decision, following Softube or Brainworx.

 

SSL native are the best plugins out there imo. UAD sound like Plugin Alliance and softube, in the same league.

 

Releasing music in 2022 is not something hard. I ask that question, because your words are very subjective and do not have any weighty arguments and can mislead people who are not very experienced and don't understand what these plugins do.
Another thing is if you gave examples comparing these plugins with similar ones. All I see in your posts is "OMG I CAN NOW USE UAD PLUGINS. I TEST THEM. THEY ARE UNBELIEVABLE. FINALLY I TOUCH SOMETHING UNATTAINABLE"
