So far I've been using sidechaining mainly to control the sub frequencies between the kick and bass.
What other practical uses do you guys have for sidechaining ?

I really like to side chain reverbs. So I like to put reverb on a send/return/aux track, then apply it to whatever I think needs reverb, and then I side chain the reverb to the kick drum just like anything else. It creates a cool swelling effects (especially with big reverbs) and it also keeps your reverb from washing out the entire song.

I also love sjidechaining reverbs and delays to vocals. So basically, you use the vocal as the side chain trigger to pump a reverb or delay on that vocal. So when the vocalist sings, the reverb is turned down, and then comes back up when the vocalist stops. Again, super cool.

Other things I use it for
    • Sidechain hats, snares and percussion looks with the kick drum
    • Sidechain ARPS with pads so the pads have a subtle similar pattern to the ARP
So many things you can do!
