Downald, I have 6 instances of Kontakt, each with about 120-140 libraries, divided up according to type of library: Orchestral, Ambient, Guitar & Bass, etc.
I use 1 regular Kontakt (bobdule) plus 5 portable Kontakts, created by vkDanilov. You can load as many of the Kontakts at the same time as you want, as long as your audio driver can handle several audio sources at once.
Why a regular (ie non-portable) Kontakt at all? For those libraries that come in iso format and want someplace to install to.

 

@Downald : Here are several "Collection" wallpapers using your design suggestion.

A couple of requests for missing wallpapers, please:

- DJSH Music - Ultimatum
- GBR Loops - Edmiere

And with all that talk about collection wallpapers, and "distinguising features", I would also like to bundle libraries that are part of a series in the same way. I wonder if any designer would mind having a go at:

- Audiofier - Randomiser Series
- Audiofier - Riffendium Series
- Audiofier - Veevum Series

Bundling in this way would help reduce registrations in Kontakt to 3 from some 16 or so.

I think this new collection design needs some redesigning as it does not fit. Doesn't look very good on kontakt:

 

Hi Fishnose. Thanks for this info - really useful! I have not found a way of running different instances of Kontakt. I have tried, and one replaces the other, and only one instance appears in my DAW (I use Reaper). I also use portable Kontakt. I would really like to know how you did it. As it is perhaps not a topic for this forum, I would be very grateful if you could PM me more details. This would help solve a big problem for me.

Following @pasi's message, just a few minutes ago, please note that there is no need to have the word "Collection" in the identifier. I don't know - perhaps it could be just the grey strip; perhaps the grey strip with a black dot in it. Or something. I'm not much of a designer, and have no graphics tools. That's why I wanted to leave the decision to the masters!

Hi pasi. These look perfect! I am absolutely happy with this solution, if other designers agree. Perhaps, to distinguish series from collections, collections could have red dots (or something else). Again, just a suggestion.

Hello Pasi: I know. I took a screenshot and was not please with the display. (The word, "collection" does not display correctly). The 3-dot design allows for a cleaner look. I'll give it a go. BTW, 'feedback' is a good thing.
