I'm quite sure you'll find this sound in the many DX7 presets available for Dexed.
    No need to rebuild.

I have attached a picture, you can click on the " INIT button for now, then you have the OSC 1 solo unprocessed.
Then you can test the controls and then add a 2nd oscillator. Step by step.

    FM synthesis
FM or "Frequency Modulation" is a synthesis method that changes the sound of a wave by modulating it with another wave.
The first commercially available FM synthesizer was the massively popular Yamaha DX7, which essentially defined the sound of the 80s. Compared to other types of synthesis, FM is relatively young.

If the "FM" part of FM synthesis sounds familiar, you're on the right track.
FM synthesis uses the concept of carrier and modulation waves, just like FM radio.

And after that, things get a little more complicated. Instead of oscillators, filters and envelopes, FM synthesizers have operators.
Operators are essentially small standalone synthesizers that have their own oscillators and envelopes.
They modulate each other, but unlike LFOs, their frequencies are in the audible spectrum.

This means that when you modulate one operator with another, you create a change in the sound rather than a modulation effect.
By changing the frequency and amplitude envelope of the operators, you introduce changes in the sound that are quite
unpredictable. When you combine six operators in different ways, you have quite a bit of potential at your disposal.

FM synthesizers are particularly good at producing harmonic sounds and complex attacks.
This is why they are often used for bells or electric pianos.

@petrrr is currently learning synthesis and embarking on his own journey of sound exploration and sound ear training.

Is only the INIT picture, it should only show how to set the preset to O again.
Well you would have to have a sound example which was made with a FM synthesizer. Which one is it then?

So I can't recreate this unfortunately because I don't like FM synthesis and it's
a bit difficult, I didn't enjoy it at the time, so I never made an FM soundset.

Here are 3 other FM plugins where it might be easier to learn or listen to FM synthesis.

    Sonicbits - Exakt Lite v1.4 Synth (FM) Plugin - 64 Bit - Win/Mac - Free

Exakt Lite is an inuitive and user friendly FM synthesizer plugin. From the harsh digital and cold sounds known from the FM era to warm and organic sounds, Exakt Lite can create a wide range of sounds.

Exakt Lite has got 4 operators which can be arranged in the classic 8 FM algorithms with feedback on operator D. Each operator has got different waveforms such as the basic sine, saw, square and triangle. Additionally, the 8 classic waveforms from the Yamaha TX81Z are emulated.

Synthtronic - Uno FM v1.0 (Synth (FM) Plugin - Windows - 32 Bit - Free
Sounds like 80' Yamaha FM 4 Operator

    BigTick - Rhino v2.13 Synth (Hybrid) Plugin - 70 €
Rhino is a Hybrid FM Synthesizer.
    Oscillators:
    - 6 oscillators per voice.
    - Hundreds of built-in waveforms.
    - Custom waveforms using samples (sfz) or additive generator.
    - Modulatable, variable waveshapers.

This sounds good! thanks for the link. I have a hardware TX81Z and this plugin sounds like a more 'hi-fi' version of it. Not better just different in a good way.
