@ nmkeraj what do you mean by this ? =>

    " local 127.0.0.1 - remote 226.0.0.1 - Blocked " ?

Sorry, I don't get it . As clarified by xorome just above : you must allow it, not block it - if that's what you understood you should do :dunno: .

    @ nmkeraj :

1° Create an image of the OS - using and external app, for example Macrium Reflect ( free version ) -.

    2° Nuke Win FW forever.
3° And use exclusively in place of it, for example, TinyWall.

Nuke it. Not just " bypass " or what : get rid of it ( forever ), and so any little ( maybe hidden - I don't remember, it's out AFAIC since years - ) rule(s)/behavior(s) of it.

As detailed previously on this site, here is how to proceed :=>

Why am I not able to add instances to a group?

If you cannot create groups because the "Add Instance" area is grayed out,
please check your firewall settings, which may be preventing network traffic.

Network access is required by your DAW because the group function of smart:
EQ 3 uses the UDP network protocol to exchange data between different plug-in instances.

This was supposed to be removed - I got a alert note about the initial one - and you're back with it ? AGAIN ?! What is this ?

There's are 4 pages FULL of precise discussions about those " groups " here - 4 ! - , but you arrive and AGAIN in your boring personal tradition of copy/pasting into this site whatever you find on the web, you insert it here, so obviously without even having had the interest to read what other members have written and so appreciate at least a little their efforts.

" Your " source, word for word, everyone here knows it and has already read it a million times by now!

It's annoying, each time a little more, and more, and more. Creating more confusion and a waste of time rather than the opposite.

    Really ?? :-((

@DAW Thanks! You are right about BEAT16. My all posts are about f'*** struggle with the firewall and now this post about the firewall :)))
and sorry for not clear description.
"local 127.0.0.1 - remote 226.0.0.1 - Blocked " This is what Tinyfirewall is still showing as pictured above. Ableton is still blocked.
I have read on Tinyfirewall's website that disabling the Windows firewall is not a complete switch-off because of the system doesn't like it.

https://tinywall.pados.hu/faq.php#:... it,whitelist your remote desktop application.

Where is hidden the little bastard preventing Ableton from UDP broadcasting? I can't do anything in TinyFirewall but it showed me what is going on. Even the first run of Reaper was successful but the second run was blocked by the Windows firewall. After removing the blocking rule Reaper works well. But Ableton doesn't have any restrictions in Windows Firewall and any fucking bitch is blocking it somehow...

But thank you mates for your help. Reinstalling the system might help. I reset the network setting and restored Windows Defender Firewall as well.

    What else to do???

    ... testing our karma, I presume... :deep_facepalm:.

This is it seems, here is the problem : it must be ENABLED.

AFAIC, from my initial comment / test , I posted this :

The "State" ( "État" in the picture, AFAIC in the French install ) for line " Samplitude, 127.0.01 ", must be allowed / unblocked by TinyWall here.

    So :=>

Then for Ableton : run/launch it, and launch the plugin inside it.

Click on the TinyWall icon in the taskbar, then with a right-click choose : "See connexions" ( translating from French: "Voir connexions" ) : it's the 4th line from the top in the TinyWall window that appears.

In your TinyWall window opened now ( refresh if needed ) : you should see
Ableton AND 127.0.0.1 on the same line : right click and choose "Unblock" ( Fr : "Débloquer" ).
This done, the state of Ableton for 127.0.0.1 will show "Established" as for the picture using Samplitude for demo, shown above.

    To test ( please )... !

For now, reinstall nothing please. Give a try to the setting described above .

As for Windows Firewall / Windows Defender, kill it forever, it's of no use if you have TinyWall + an anti-virus - for example Avast free - ( see the link given, with the lines of codes, it's not so complex, it's in fact copy / paste ). The less Windows apps, the better. So out go Windows Store, Microsoft Edge, System Restore, Cortana, forced updates and so on.

I'm not the author of those hacks, but what I see / hear / read is that my little " tree trunk " of residual Windows works nicely even on a small laptop, with rarely a bug compared to others running the same apps ( Samplitude, Sequoia and their plugins, Photoshop... ).

It seems that majority here prefers TinyWall. Never used it but I guess it's because of small footprint, no popups and filtering on different level (?). I am using Windows Firewall Control (WFC) by Malwarebytes/Binisoft which is (as you may know) just a program to control and manage the "native" Windows Firewall.

Since you already use TinyWall, I'd suggest you first try the @DAW 's suggestions. But then, before you set your comp on fire, you may try WFC (or set up the Win firewall yourself). As I understand, TinyWall can replace Win FW, but OTOH the system may panic there is no firewall.. idk, really. Anyway it's not for IQ-challenged, like myself, lol

I will thus leave this here mainly for WFC users, although the same should apply for any FW management
    -----
The logic behind it is always the same:
You BLOCK your DAW to connect to anything, UNLESS there is a RULE, that says your DAW can connect to something.

If your firewall has a rule, like:
    SmartEQ (groups) will NOT work.

There should be an easy way to switch from Block to Allow (unblock??) for this connection specifically.
Also, you should take into account also the protocol (yp, UDP) and the ports (see your post #57). The "Allow" should apply to any (local) ports. (e.g., if you unblock the specific traffic from a "blocked connections" log, it will automatically make a rule for a specific port, not for all)

Since I was curious about this, I made a test while DAW was running. You can see the group melting.. ;)

btw, DAW tries to connect to something somewhere (not related to^) when you drop SmartEQ on a track

    Thanks @DAW and @RobertoCavally :like::like:
I tried to create a new rule for ableton to allow UDP 127.0.0.1 and 226.0.0.1 and numerous ports but then TinyWall showed Ableton with changed port number was blocked.
I tried to unblock it in TinyWall. But it looks like the option doesn’t work. It is still blocked. I use Ableton 10.1.42 and the app itself might have something inside what TinyWall can see but can’t do anything about it. Weird…
I added an exemption for Ableton.exe in Windows Antivirus, too.

OK, I was guessing in my previous post, now I'm 99.98% sure what's your problem: You have to allow UDP 127.0.0.1 -> 226.0.0.1 communication on ALL PORTS. "Numerous" is not gonna do it. There are (me think) 65535 UDP ports..

There are various ways to do this (range, or better, as you can see in my window - All Ports). I'm sure someone here will tell you how to set it in TinyWall. Calling @DAW @Xupito.. ;)

Type in "Resource Monitor" in your Windows search and then click the Network tab on top. Now create a SmartEQ3 group in Ableton and you will see the IP and the ports that Ableton is accessing. The ports I can see that my Ableton needs open are in the 617XX range so definitely make sure those ports are open locally.

If you followed everyone's instructions above and you still can't get it to work, my suggestion would be to simply install Ableton 11 and follow the instructions I posted to a T.

In fact the problem is your wife.
Do you know a good lawyer? ....

    ( sorry :mates:... )
No more ideas for now :dunno: ...

EDIT : So there is Windows Defender running on your ( still ) wife's laptop ?
Isn't it possible to export the rules from Defender ( and import ) ? It is possible for TinyWall.

    Hello nmkeraj.

I didn't use the " safe mode " since 1152, so even before the invention of electrical wall plugs (...). So, sorry for the question : what would be " normally " off / not running in that mode ? The 127.0.0.1 LAN would be running ? Windows Defender ?

I just read that Defender can be launched ( if not already ? ) in safe mode. Did you do / try that ?

Of course if it works with Defender off, we're back to the idea of killing Defender.

    :dunno::unsure:

Now I would need a computer geek to tackle with the mystery of blocked Live. How to extract the services and programs to diagnose the prob? Some logs would be helpful to see differences between normal and safe mode.

I mess this up myself sometimes but double check that your firewall rules are set for the correct network type(Private, Public or Domain) that your network connection is actually using. You also have 2 logs in your 4th screenshot (smeq-tblshtr-4-jpg) that you can click on and view.

@DontKnowJack Thank you for your suggestion.
But I switched off the firewall for all the networks. Although the service Windows Defender Firewall was still working and it was impossible to stop the service. It was in normal mode. I disabled even all the rules in the firewall, too. In the safe mode the WDF service is off.

    The bitch's name is:

    "NetLimiter 4 Service"

set to automatic start. NOT ANYMORE!!!

I was switching off every service, one by one, compared to screenshots of the services' list in the safe mode.
I don't know what this service does in the system apart from disturbing the others but f*** this now.
    It is disabled now.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR YOUR GREAT INPUT!!!

    THE BLOODY PROBLEM IS

Just adding more details after having read that "NetLimiter 4 Service" is important.
    Using this:

    https://www.netlimiter.com/docs/internals/xml-configuration-file

I removed all entries regarding Ableton from the xml file in C:\ProgramData\Locktime\NetLimiter\4 I restarted the service.
Ableton and smarteq3 are still working fine.

What is port 226.0.0.1 for exactly and are you not risking call backs / malware?
