uninstalled 11.0.0 , dl'd and followed the instructions about using keygen from last release but still asks me to authaurise after iv dropped in the generated .auz. thanks if anyone can help

Have you deleted the APPData Folder after uninstalling?

 

Uninstall and please delete (it's a hidden folder):

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Ableton
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Ableton
C:\ProgramData\Ableton

 

Is it necessary to uninstall the previous version for each update?

After the deletion process, use Free CCleaner and restart the PC.

Best Way for the Future use Revo Uninstaller to Install and deinstall Software. If you do so everything which was created on Installation will be removed on deinstall also AppData and Reg Files.

 

I dont recall ever having to do anything other than placing the install file into its own C:/drive programs folder, CCleaner-tools-uninstall Ableton, install update as instructed. But just incase I run into issues these detailed tips are good to know as im about to update from 11.1.5 to 11.1.6.

Also I remembered someone posting about authorization issue where they suggested to turn off Ableton admin instructions as follows:

"Not sure if this is your issue but you need to right click on the ableton exe and go to properties, and remove the ''Run this program as admin'' checkbox.
This also ends up helping with other issues I had in the past and I remember authorizing being one of them, so I'd say just always remove Run As Admin.

Edit: And block ableton with your firewall so it isn't connecting to internet for updates or anything."

I dont know if that will help or not.. I have always installed programs and plugins as "run as admin", so maybe someone else here can further explain and verify if this also applies to Ableton?

 

urgh christ you gotta actually drop the .AUZ on the running program itself and not in in the program Folder.... IDDDDDDDDDIOT.

success here. ableton update from .5 to 11.1.6. took all of 5 minutes, simple uninstall, install process and didnt need to do any abnormal deleting keygen reg scrub bs stuff. happy days!
