I don't like having to pay every year i'd rather pay a fee upfront forever kind of thing.

do you have any recommendations of music distributors who do that? 1 fee, forever kind of thing

also is there any advantage to having to pay yearly like that?...i mean in terms of services not price

i believe they take 15% from your track's royalties (stream income) and charge a one time fee of $1 per track
i might be wrong but thats how i remember it
they also had live chat support which was handy

Go traditional or go free. for digital only 15% max royalty only - no fees, never taken down (maybe more than 15% if a major player and they do huge amount of press, promo and marketing - most dont as theyre basically fully automated so they dont do squat, YOU do it). Unless you have a massive following, streaming pays total shiit.. there are WAY too many free distributors to pay for that these days. Watch out for yearly and "lifetime" extra fees too, a lot of these places will take your stuff down in a year or whatever if you dont pay extra..

And Distrokid is the worst, unless you like paying Spotify's double dipping talentless shady MF Daniel Ek twice (he partly owns Distrokid, which is not openly disclosed, so gets % cut of royalties and fees from both distribution and streaming and ad sales and data farming and...)... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Is there a way in which one can distribute music manually?

 

Don't think of Spotify or Apple Music in terms of any viable income. They are numbers and data you can leverage to negotiate larger investments or distribution deals / sponsorships etc. Just like owning a domain for a website , its yearly. You cant expect to platform music and pretend its not a business . Video is just as important as the music. Youtube is important as well. Any product in any space will have distribution cost. So if you believe in your product, pay for the best distribution you can afford that has the most protection and smallest percentage cut. If it costs less upfront than most likely it will be a larger % per stream , vice versa.
