do you leave 1 beat/1 second gap or something like this in front of your song to avoid the very first note being cut off by media players or mobile or anything like that? or its not common practice to do this?

    thanks

    Yes. Usually half a second.

+1. You never know where and how your song's going to be played.

    I go for around 200-250ms.
Some CD players back in the day had the weirdest ramp-up volume envelope, so that shit stuck with me and this is a way to avoid it.

If I actually remember to (lol), yes, when I'm at that final stage with my song, I'll put a little silence at the start and at the end too.

I do like 15 seconds. Those that really want to hear it will hang in there, the others, well....

This is a good idea, but might I suggest only dead silence for the first 3 seconds.. then a whisper of volume for the next 12? This should cause the listener to think their volume is too low. They will instinctively crank it way up to compensate, and by 15 seconds into your song, you will have permanently won the loudness war!
