Is anybody doing it? I like my audio interface, but my cans are some of the more difficult models to drive, and when I use correction software it eliminates some of the headroom, leaving me right on the performance edge.

I would if I had headphones which were hard to drive. It would be a must.

Very good headphone amplifiers are very expensive and it is cheaper to buy a new audio interface right away. I think headphone amplifiers are not a good solution. I don't know anyone who uses them. The Audient iD14 audio interface has very good headphone amplifiers and enough pressure. I used to work only with headphones (DT 990 Pro / 250 Ohm) and it was always loud enough.

Yes, I use jds atom with my hd650 on output 3/4 on my Motu m4. Before I had the Scarlett, my god what a difference there was so much headphone amp distortion coming out of that interface. Horrible quality.
