I have copied the following text from the Sylenth1 manual:

    Retrigger and Phase

The Retrigger button can be used to force all voices to start at the exact same location on the waveform every time a new note is played. That location can be changed using the Phase knob.

If Phase is set to 0, the voices will restart at the beginning of the waveform period. If it is set to 180 degrees, the voices will start halfway the period, while setting it to 360 degrees will make them start at the end of the waveform, which is equivalent to the beginning.

The phase setting cannot be heard if there’s only one oscillator active, but as soon as there are two or more oscillators running at the same pitch and both have the retrigger button enabled, you can create useful effects with it. You can accentuate the level of bass tones for example, or create PWM-like effects by modulating the phase of one of the oscillators.

I'm not following. What do you mean? Bandpass attenuate frequencies around the cutoff.

You can add lowpass filter (slope and cutoff of choice) or add high shelving filter on your EQ, if you want to attenuate the highs. You can also sculpt the sound by changing/adding/modulating the waveform, adjusting phase of different oscillators, etc. The initial idea of the four basic waveforms (sine, saw, square, triangle...and noise) was having options to combine them (building-blocks) to create/emulate the characteristics of real instruments and their timbre.

I think you just need to dive deeper into sound synthesis and experiment, have fun, make mistakes and learn more.

@ petrrr said: how can i soften the upper high frequencies of the saw waveform instead of cutting them off because cutting it off its obvious the highs are missing, i tried band filter but the frequencies escaping around it are still a problem

You could put a compressor with a graph so you can watch it deal with this in like 1 minute. Then build your patch into it, rather than stick some fx on a patch. Try the reverse approach and it may make more sense.

You should get a nice oscilloscope plugin to put after your synthesizer plugin so you can see what it is doing. Freakoscope or something like it.

Here buddy, up to 24 saw osc (two basses and melody), no filter, no EQ. Harsh or not harsh?

    Thanks.

Apart from a little compression, not my merit, it's FF Twin's.
