Hello. Do those free VPN's really work? I always figured that they wouldn't, but i've never tried one. That would be cool to find out that they do (work). Do they slow things down much?

I use Windscribe. 10GB of data per month for free is way enough.

It works fine, as Chrome extension or /and Opera extension. In fact : Opera itself already includes a VPN.

Once the torrent file has started downloading ( µTorrent v1.8.3, free of course ), you can turn Windscribe off ( and so save tons of unnecessary data loss ).

No problem for RuT ( org ) here, but always with that sh***y French site yggtorrent and their ridiculous ratio ( at this moment relocated at yggtorrent.fi ).
I have numerous movies to share, but rarely in French : so noone uploads and the ratio dies. Same: you let µTorrent go on downloading, and they can't stop you as long as you don't exit µTorrent. ( This done, you're banned : who cares, you create another login in 1 min. )

Do not get a free VPN, you do not know about their log politics or various security audits performed on their networks.
Get a secure VPN which prevents DNS leaks and with a kill-switch.

Then bind your VPN network interface to your Torrent program to make sure not a single byte goes through. Why ? Because the kill-switch is never enough.

As for Windscribe, it's a secure VPN with ( as written ) a limited free version. Opera's one is free and unlimited.

If you really fear everything on the www, use Tor. And buy some crypto too.

That's what we are here for, to help each other. If you need something yourself or anyone else. Count on me. Also (without getting into politics) If these measures get tougher and more and more people are affected by not being able to download, having each other will be essential.

After nearly a decade using RU, I too have found a small handful of old but sought after Kontakt instruments that are not for my "region". I can remember it happening twice at least.
So apart from FL Studio, this is not a new thing.
The site is only for Russians and Russian speakers, after all.
The only thing I can think of is to choose a Russian address via VPN when you join up, but I never tried.
Most, as we can see from this thread, have not encountered it because they won't even know about the libraries to search for them.
Since FL Studio is still obtainable by others, it does not necessarily prove anything regards the "region" block because Nostagia_Rocks was able to get it before.
So there may be other factors.
What I'm suggesting is that there are actually Russian only shares, regardless of something very sought after like FL Studio also being subjected to it for some people.
I hope this info adds a different perspective.

Well, but that applies to almost all private torrent trackers, doesn't it? Their ratio rules are bananas. People paying for SeedBoxes to be able to keep up... I've never understood these places.
That's what makes RuT so especial.

I don't know if this time is different, but that's a common screen I've seen during the years. Once in a while, probably more recently.

 

Oh, I forgot. Useful workaround for many stuff is to use google's rutracker cache.
You won't be able to download the torrent but you can get the magnetic link

 

Hmm. Maybe you mean technical break which is there everyday between 3 - 4 AM?
It was very similar message.
Maybe spontaniously few times in night you tried to use the site while that break?
And maybe recently you spent more time on internet during the night
