Nice one. Snappy snare. You like to tell us which tools, mainly channel strip/compressor you used?

    All from T-Racks

1- EQ-81 on "Mic" to use both as a preamp and an eq, really pushed the gain to +12 a few eq tweaks.
2- Black 76 Fast-ish attack slow release pushed this one to a ratio set at 12.
3- EQP-1A to give it some beefy low end and roudness after compression (something you suggested i do in our past talks actually :mates:)

    Then buss compression.

i could do a video showing what i did if enough member request it, i won't show everything of course but i'll share enough. :bleh:

Mh, EQ-81, Black 76 and EQP-1A is not exactly a vintage channel strip... :winker:

    81 = Neve
76 = which is based on 1176 compressors which are in fact vintage gear.
    EQP 1A = Pultec

did some research they are all vintage hardware.

I know what these plugins are emulating and you're of course right, the hardware is vintage, but they're not what I meant by channel strip.

Yeah the whole idea is to use vintage channel strips, not just vintage emus of all kinds. I think I'll participate even though I'm not even in the studio these days :D Is there a "submission deadline" yet?

I guess Variety of Sound BootEQ mkIII or Nasty VCS would both qualify as a vintage channelstrip, right? Free for Windows!

Hey there! new guy here. just wanted to share my initial mix.

    What I used:
    TAPE EMU -Tape by Softube
CHANNEL STRIP - Channev by Analog Obsession
ROOM REVERB - ROOM041 by Analog Obsession
PLATE REVERB - Abbey Road Plate by Waves

Tape and Channev on individual tracks. Channev on Group busses. Just wanted to know if I'm on the right track.

I have nothing on the master bus cause I read somewhere there might be an individual contest for the Mastering? (not sure lol)
and oh, I wanted to use H-delay but I'm not sure if it's considered vintage so yeah.

Channev is a vintage style strip, but it is made up of "modeled" components taken from multiple units. Sounds nice though :)

Does that mean every stem has to go with tape or is this for all stems i decide to put a tape emu on?

    There I go.
Nothing changed from the initial plan, it's Satin, American Class A, Echo Cat and Transatlantic Plates, imitating a console with a tape machine and a few outboard spatial FX.
This workflow does limit you somewhat. Had to stop myself several times and say "Don't do this, this can't be done on console with two hands".
But not in sound quality. American Class A sounds absolutely sublime. Instead of limiting, it's stepped EQ feels liberating. And both dynamics modules do lots of things for you. Hard to mess the sound up. Guess that's the point of sought-after vintage hardware?
Well, and Satin is Satin : D

Ya getting thumbs up for understanding what's this all about.
Mix bus processing is part of mixing process tho. You can freely put Channev and then Tape on it and make your track a bit louder.

You can use Channev, I think. The point is only to imitate the workflow. If you somehow have a weird DIY vintage console at your proverbial studio, it doesn't diminish the fact that it's a vintage console.

Before flying faders there could be multiple people at the same time with hands on a large mixing desk, so I think that using animation could be allowable.

Basically, yes. If it's split into separate pluggies (Softube American vs Waves) that's still ok. I'm very sorry if I caused any confusion about this matter.

I'm impressed by your working/mixing speed. :like: :like:

Clever choice, comes with a lot of options.

You are. You can use first Channev and then the tape emu in the main out too.
EDIT: I've just seen that is offers continuous freqs and that would not be in compliance with the rules. If you'd stick to the marked freqs only, that would be ok, though.

H-Delay is ok, the main focus for this contest is the channel strip.

EDIT: Oh, you've made your track almost mono, that's not necessary!
