lol it's funny to me on a forum like this to see musicians speaking as if something as subjective as taste in style of music is fact. The fact YOU might find the heavily quantized midi music lifeless robotic soulless and repetive as BAD doesn't hold true to someone like me.

I don't like atonal music, but I respect the thought that goes behind it. Because it isn't pleasant to me doesn't make it shit, it makes it not my thing. those are different. Taste in style is about as subjective of an opinion as you can have. Where I find things to be more objective is in the results of the mix, but even then if someone WANTS to run their song through a RadioShack walkie talkie and they achieve the result they desire... well that's steered away from the more objective "does this song sound good to the majority of humans" and back into style.

it's like when people say whoever the top pop artist is currently sucks. well- clearly a lot of people think otherwise, and at the end of the day they're getting enjoyment from music sooooooo.

I also remember being addicted to Techno and Dub when my D3 levels were very low, and after i got better now i dont prefer listening to music at all. So it is such a complicated thing to talk about and being "right" is a double sword not for anyone else reading, but for the person claiming something-> like how does water feels like...we all know it feels wet but this ain´t water..

The other day i was checking particular mix out, added an EQ, made a cut, low shelf etc...thinking "hm, this feels good" , and i´m looking FX chain turned off....it is like there´s a muscle we can work with and fool ourselves, so the trick might be playing the track in a month and making superfast decision what to do in a moment, i think i heard Four Tet saying that he waits a month or a two to decide on the high end eq move in a final stages.
