I'm referring to those page turners, a book that either changed your life, made you actually more intelligent, or opened up a perspective that you would have never thought possible?

It could be audio relaxed (mixing/mastering)... Work flow related... or just overall a book you've experienced in your life that you could recommend here...

"Can't hurt me, Master Your mind and defy the odds" by David Goggins.. (nonfiction) Self Help

"Lonesome Dove" by Larry McMurty (fiction) Western

"Shoe Dog" By the creator of Nike (Nonfiction) Biography

"Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell (nonfiction) Science

and "When breath becomes air" by Paul Kilanithi (nonfiction) TearJerker/Science

 

"5am club" - Robin Sharma (productivity + life in general)

"The prophet" - Kahlil Gibran (life philosophy, literally all I would want to say is just written in there)

"The one thing" - Garry Keller (productivity - doing only what matters and leverage this)

"The top five regrets of the dying" - Bronnie Ware (are you living the life you actually want to?)


If conscious living and productivity matter to you, there's no way you won't be at least bit different after reading these.

Does it have to be books? I'm not one to read, but I do watch many documentaries

 

Finnegans Wake by James Joyce. Listen to an audio version, there are several and set to music. Read along if you like.

 

A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole.

 

Anything by Kurt Vonnegut or Joseph Heller.

I like poetry, I've been reading "les fleurs du mal" since I was a teenager, I never actually finished the book, I just reach towards it to read a new assorted poem.

 

1. The Holy Bible

2. Thousands of other books, covering the sciences (astronomy, biology, evolution, geology, archeology, geography, psychology), philosophy, travel, cultures, music, filmmaking, airplanes/aeronautics/space-tech, business, mythology, computer programming, lots of quality fiction, autobiographies, biographies, human sexuality, history, morality/ethics, various religious/spiritual texts (many of which I later found to be deceptive and dangerous), and several other main subjects ;)

The real list would blow up into something most people would not believe, but... there it is. I can't quite believe it when I look at it all. My life has been quite diverse and rich. And I hope to keep improving, not only for my own benefit, but for everyone else's as well.

It reads like a fever dream of a madman (it's weird fiction), yet it's still very philosophical and touches deep topics like how much control we really have over our lives. Do we really have a free will? Or maybe we are just animals following our hardwired instincts and the decisions we make aren't really ours?

If any of you ever watched the first season of "True Detective" TV series: Rustin Cohle's outlook on life was based on Thomas Ligotti's philosophical arguments.
