Hello good night everyone, firstly sorry for my english because it is not my native language [IMG]

I would like feedback on how to do this type of mixing, I have difficulty getting to this type of drums, especially the kick, but as there are many experienced and talented producers here I would like a general feedback if possible, thank you

The kick has a "knack" around 150 and the bass has more power in the lows, so they don't overlap too much. You can duck the bass to the kick with a compressor on the bass (and route the knacky kick to the sidechain input). Then set the compressor to highest ratio, fastest attack and fairly fast release. Then set threshold to taste. You can also do this ducking with a dynamic EQ (and really dial in on the frequency), so that the bass temporarily gets ducked when the kick hits (so they don't fight for the same space).

The mix is fairly sparse so it's not really a matter of making space, but you can still use ducking to make space to maximize the volume (if needed).

Thanks for the reply, and for the attention you gave to my post! even performing the side chain, the sound of the kick doesn't come close to that of this producer there is some secret in this drum that I have no idea

Nu cats using „spacer“ vsts keep the lows on tight but also divided.

what I really like to get those fx is a low end enhancer

There's actually not much happening with the kick drum or the drums in these tracks. I'll try to simplify things for you.

    1. Find a good sample to start with. This is the first and most important step. Find the kick sound or drum sound that works for the track that you are working on.
    2. That being said, find a sample that is short. By short, I mean it does not have a long "boom" or tail to it. THIS is the actual secret. A short kick drum
    3. Once you find a good sample, the next most importune thing is its volume compared to everything else. So before you add any plugins like EQ or compression, first set the volume of the kick. If you find that it's not punching through enough, then turn everything else down.
    4. After setting volumes, then decide OK, is it too bright? Remove some high frequencies. Is it too thin? Add some low frequencies. Does it need more "smack" or "click" then use some compression. Do you want it to sound distorted? Add some distortion
That's it really. There are no secrets, it's just a few basic steps and you'll get that sound that you're looking for. Don't overthink it.

Let me know if that helps.

bro, if you follow my guidelines below youll get even better sound than this.

its about hard hitting kick drums.

    1. get a good quality kick sample. try to find a kick that is close to your required sound.
    2. put a soft clipper .
    3. boost the kick little bit so that the harmonics come out due to clipping. (Remember, DONOT user Compressor on drums, specially kicks)
    4. put an EQ after the clipper and set a low cut at about 30 to 35 hz.
    5. give the low cut small resonance. also try to boost with a bell shape at about 50hz to 80hz (find the sweet spot)
    6. Put a soft clipper to master channel now.
    7. drive the kick drum by boosting the volume.

now the processed kick drum will hit the clipper of master channel give you awesome hard hit in the chest.
pair this kick with some quality 808s and sidechain.

a small tip: if your kick is not giving that sweet click then try not to boost the high frequencies but layer your kick with a transient /Top kick and adjust its vol. while playing the drums collectively. youll automatically find a sweet spot for the top kick/transient level
