hi lets say u have 50 tracks in the project

and you want to quickly choose 3 tracks to find balance of volume between them

can you do that Temporarily in the mixer i.e put them next to each other for only a moment without adjusting the order of all the tracks

 

I assume you mean you want to change the order in the mixer but not in the project window?

Since the mixer just shows the track order of the project window (and vice versa), no.

 

it would be cool to highlight the tracks u want to balance and have a temporary mixer or something and to do the volume adjustments

currently its kinda hard i have to scroll through change volume of one, go back change volume of the other

i always change the order of the tracks too due to this

 

Well, you can right-click on a track (in mixer or project), click on Track Manager and change the checks (dots) for TCP (Track Control Panel aka project) and/or MCP (Mixer Control Panel). But I'm not sure if you find this comfy.

 

I was working on the same answer for you when No Avenger replied. He beat my hand by a few seconds. You can activate only the tracks you need to see in the Track Manager panel - I quickly created 50 empty tracks and selected only 3 of them to be shown in the Track Control Panel and the Mixer Control Panel. Take a look at the screen captures.

Yep, that's why I said

But you can of course select several tracks at once in the Track Manager too (shift, ctrl).
You could also click on one track in the TM, then ctrl+A and then deselect the three in question.

 

HedaMixer does exactly this. Not sure if it's in his paid or free scripts but well worth the small donation imo. That and Heda's Track Inspector make flying around in Reaper so much easier.

 

As pointed out already, the Track Manager is the quickest way to control what you see. Reaper has simple to very complicated ways of managing what is seen. Custom actions, screensets, mxier right-click context menu, etc...

Hopefully you have read the manual. At least the section(s) that interest you at any moment of use.

 

Ok. try this one.
You need to create cycle action (SWS Extension). In cycle action insert this 2 scripts by Archie (Install them from ReaPack). Create shortcut for easy access.

How its work. Select 3 tracks from your 50, run cycle action and all 47 unselected tracks will hide. Edit what you want then run cycle action one more time : Show all tracks

 

I make bus tracks regularly for such purpose. Just reroute any tracks to a new track and call it "**** bus". Then you can a) adjust the volume of whole three or more tracks together, or b) adjust the volume of separate tracks with send or receive volume when you open the bus track's I/O. Pretty handy for mixing.

Although I must admit I'm going to use this trick mentioned here, too. Very handy!

 

EDIT: Sorry, shit, I should have read top to bottom, not bottom to top haha. My bad, I just saw now that you want to be able to balance these individual tracks with each other, not control their volume together. Ignore me..
