I realise that for many a question of this type will seem almost childishly simple but everyone's gotta learn from the beginning sometime!!

I want to lay down some tracks (lets just say 2 for now) using Reaper.

Lets say for arguments sake, on Track one is session of Kontakt 5 and Track 2 is Omnisphere.

How can I record track one THEN listen to track one as I the add/record on Track 2?

I've tried all sots of things but can't seem to get it to do this - I always end up overrecording the first with the keys I strike in the second track!

    Any help gratefully received!

    Giff

You need to arm the first track for recording, and you record.

And for the second track you un-arm the first track and arm the second one.

If you don't unarm the first it should overrecord it.

And to be able to listen the track while recording you tick the headphone like button, just under the record button.

There are some really good tutorials for reaper on the web. Just consult the book of knowledge (google) If you wanna buy one, the groove 3 one is the best I've watched.

if you have some time on your hands you might want to check the groove3 (iirc it was groove3, might as well have been macprovideo) video tutorials. I heard *nudgenudge* that those are available at certain *winkwink* audiowarez sites. ;) If you don't like the manual there is also "Home Recording for Beginners" and "Reaper Power", both by Geoffrey Francis.
