    Hi guys

How to design the percussive synth sound in the following track?

It plays from the very beginning to 00:40 min

I'm aware of the fact that I can get the sound by the help of random perc samples, but I wonder how to design it from the ground zero in a VST synth.

You mean the sound that is slightly panned left, am I right? Sounds like heavily processed physical modeling or sampled rimshot, so I wouldn't try classical synths but physical modelling drumsynths as base for this sound

Yeah, I mean the sound that is slightly panned left.

Would you please suggest me some reliable physical modelling drumsynths to achive the result I'm looking for?

    Thank you in advance

What do you have to try and make it with? I think Sugar Bytes Drum Computer might be a good way to go, kind of like suggested by @Valnar.

Isn't the hit you are asking about somewhat prevalent in trance/techno music? Meaning, they use a hit of this type commonly; but they almost do it with a "previously used" sound to show what they can twist it up like... examples like Mentasm/Hoover sounds.

I flipped through Kick2 to see if there is anything close in there already. Nope. Punch2 maybe?
The usual suspect for sample source would be VEC.

Doesn't sound like much special. Probably a synthesized cowbell tuned down, and with reverb and some other processing on it... unless I'm mistaking which percussion you're referring to.
