You can find Alpha Juno synths at good prices if you look carefully. They are quite surprising once you get past the pre-sets. I have an Alpha Juno 1, and I use it with a VST editor inside my DAW.

I feel the same was about the TX81Z and Nord Lead 1. Best bargains out there IMO. I use Edisyn to edit the TX81Z.

Juno 1 is good but the Juno 2 is slightly better build quality. I know M83 used them alot.

I use mine as a sound module and I play it with a controller keyboard, and as mentioned above all the programming is done inside the DAW. Regarding the actual hardware, the Juno 2 has aftertouch.

Me too. I've even built a memory expansion with static S-RAM chips.
It was a nice compact synth (even beyond the hoover sound ) but nothing a Nord Lead (3) or blofeld couldn't do.

Just gotta love the Alpha Juno-1 and 2 and their siblings.

Made a synth-only demo a while ago – well, more than one actually – but wanted to share this one:

This is beautiful! The demo perfectly represent what I love about the Alpha Juno-1. It has some special sonic qualities to it... quite nostalgic, but at the same time almost modern. Timeless!

Many thanks for your kind words!

I had to think a bit, but I created another one using just my Alpha Juno-2: Solidtrax - Timeless Alpha Juno Deux van Solidtrax - It has a slightly different vibe and was done more live, in a sense.

Hey I just found out I bought a preset pack from you some time ago :like:
I have a question you might know something about.
I use TAL-PHA via the SysEs function to control my Alpha Juno-1.
Unfortunately neither DAW automation nor mapping the vst on a MIDI-controller works properly. :dunno:
I ended up using the mouse again, if I need movement, which works but you know it's not convenient in every situation (=live manipulation).

Do you have some experience with that?
I did not try to update the vst yet.

Hey cool and thanks, hope you enjoyed the sounds!

Not sure If I understand it correctly. Do you want to control TAL-Pha via the Alpha-1? Or The Alpha-1 via TAL-Pha via a MIDI controller? Also, which DAW do you use and which controller? Normally Patrick updates his software regularly and I would ask him, he is always willing to help his customers with that.

    I do still enjoy them!
It is crazy how much more value I find in the Alpha-1, using TAL-Pha as a VST-Controller and having some sound packs.

Your second guess is right: I feed TAL-Pha with a Faderfox-VST-Controller and from TAL-Pha via Sysex to the Alpha-1. It works fine using the mouse, but not properly with the Controller, nor when trying to automate some TAL-Pha parameters in Reaper, which is a pity.

I did not try to update TAL-Pha - which would be such a beginner's mistake - still using v1.02 ... thanks for the tip!
