all new features and effects aside there should be 0 difference, as with all daws
I believe even audacity has the exact same "sound" as cubase 12
cubase 30, ableton 50 and fl studio 69 will be no different
we would be fucked if audio engines in these applications couldn't faithfully reproduce digital audio
sometimes it is a matter of audio driver currently used and there MIGHT be difference because of it though

    Common ... not again.
DAW sound engine is JUST digital summing.
1+1=2 in whatever DAW on Earth
    That's all.

So NO, apart "special" DAWs with integrated analog modeling, NO DAW on Earth will give you a "better sound" by it's sound engine.
We are not speaking about synthesis or effects here, of course.

Processing precision in C5 is probably less than 64 bit float but I don't remember what it was in C5. But samplerate conversion is definitely worse in C5 than in C12. These are just the first two things that came to my mind, there can be more.

So it could be exactly the same in theory if you don't do much and just need to export with the project samplerate but in real usage there will most probably be at least a small difference due to worse conversion or you need another program after C5 to convert to different samplerates for CD, Youtube etc.

It all depends on which audio engine oil you use.

If you really want to know for sure, research & understand how each DAW handles pan Law and, where the audible clipping range is.
    • Record tracks using the same source material for one.
    • Listen to each DAW ouput using the same known mastered material (CD, Lossless, etc...)
    • Perform usual null tests.
There's an old saying.."you've got to go through it, to get to it".

Within normal usage, there would not be a discernable difference.
Two big changes would be better plugin delay compensation which is a big contributor to a mix sound tighter and cleaner and the introduction of 64 bit processing in 9.5 which lets you clip to your hearts content and still pull the master fader down.
